This deck relies on choosing where and when to fight and taking advantage of combos between its news and ship cards.
Dead or Alive starts a death countdown for any ship that can only be delayed if your opponent discards. Proofread kills pesky news cards and can be followed with Miscommunication to steal those cards.
The locations were chosen for mining or because they help in combat. Acceleration Gates are invaluable for warping ships around, and the Ray of Matar and State War Academy can make even a small ship formidable. The outer regions have good combat bonuses, and your starbase structures will enhance your fleet when fighting at home. The nice new tech is Projectile Turret, made to tear fleets apart.
Many new strategies in The Exiled revolve around control of outer regions; I kept this in mind when choosing ships. The backbone of my fleet is the Serpentis Sniper, a 4-cost frigate with Exiled, which gives a bonus to its combat values in outer regions. It can also Snipe or Tank, raising firepower at the cost of shields or vice versa. The Serpentis Defender is a 3/3 frigate which can be played from your hand when a region is attacked, meaning suddenly, your opponent finds himself outgunned. These ships gain and hold territory well, but losing them is costly. Your enemy gains ISK for killing them.
The second part of the fleet consists of miners. Serpentis Protector, Serpentis Bodyguard, and Angel Outlaw all have nice secondary abilities. Offensively, the Bodyguard and Protector are also useful because they activate their commands after battling. The heavy hitters are the Serpentis Baron battleship and its escort, the Serpentis Chief Watchman, which cancels enemy commands.
I also included the new rare character Arma Noren. She guarantees income and causes enemy ships that damage her vessel to bounce back to their owner's hand.
