More Questions - 2007/10/20 07:25 Alright:

1. Do ships 'keep' command abilities through multiple battle phases? EA: First round Ambush 3 does 3 damage on the withdraw phase, does it also do 3 damage on the SECOND withdraw phase in the same battle? and third etc..

2. There is one location that lets you pay 1ISK to disallow a ship to warp into it, two questions here:
2a - You can play this locations ability like a news right?
2b - If 2a is true, my opponent says "I attacked with ship X", I say no you dont. I pay 1isk. Since the wording of the card says 'ships cannot warp into this region' does that mean his command abilities STAY activated? or do they deactivate?

3. There is one ship that can only be targeted by one ship each battle phase. Isn't the rule that if a ship does no damage that round it must withdraw the next? And also a ship cannot attack the starbase until all defending ships are dead.

Does this mean that if an opponent attacks with 3 ships, would he have to withdraw the other two next round as they couldn't target anything?

Re:More Questions - 2007/10/20 11:59 Ok, here goes. 1) Ships with active commands keep them for the whole of the battle phase unless they are turned off by the attacking player.

2a)Yes but if you use it before the player announces he is going to use that ship in an attack then he can, in response, announce he's going to warp that ship into the region and put it on the stack so best to use it after you opponent declares which ships he's using.

2b)As long as your opponent has not warped his ship into you region then he can turn off and activate his ships commands as many times as he likes. It is only when a ship enters an enemy held region that it can't activate its ship commands.

3)If no ships are destroyed during the battle phase then enemy ships have to withdraw in the result part. It is not based on whether a single ships fails or succseeds but if any of the ships in the attacking fleet destroy any of the defending fleet. Starbases are targetted automatically and dealt damage in the result part of the battle phase.

Hope that helps.
We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.

Re:More Questions - 2007/10/20 17:33 Thanks!

So ships with Ambush 5 deal 5 + damage EVERY battle round O.O

And another question - Can the Juggernaught Platform be used for the Amarr starbase's shield 20 victory?

Juggernaught goes back to your hand at the beginning of your turn, and the starbases ability check at the beginning of your management phase, so I assume not.

Actually, you cannot add a Management Phase Action (such as warping) to a pile, you can only add instant and/or reactive effects (specifically from the rulebook "news cards or executed abilities").

The rest of your answer was spot-on.

Correct assumption for the correct reasons - without a card effect, you cannot use the Platform towards Reclamation victory. There is a news card that will keep the Platform from going to your hand - check the old Amarr deck lists for something called Turbo Reclamation.

So if I wait UNTIL the battle phase of the turn to play the "cannot warp here" ability his commands ARE deactivated?

Also could someone 'confirm' that the "command abilities" work for every round of battle - not just the first? A ship with Ambush 5 suddenly looks absurdly strong.

And one more question:
"Withdraw Step (II)
Players may withdraw any number of their ships to their dock or to any regions that do not have enemy ships in them."

So does that mean you can 'withdraw' to uncontrolled, empty regions?

Can't wait until then, because then the ship has already warped and the ability will have no effect, sorry.

Confirmed, you should calculate on a decisive victory the first round of the battle.

Yep that's what it says.
