Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2007/02/15 08:55 Nice job fellas, i really like the more simplified draft rules.

One quick question though: How does the points scoring system for Swiss Pairing account for matches that end in a draw? Do both players get a point? Or no points?

Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2007/02/15 09:28 A legal deck consists of 1 starbase (of the same race)
Ok, fair enough. How ever I can't help but wounder how one would go about trying to break that rule. I find it very hard to have 1 starbase of a different race then it self... If there where 2 starbases it would be a differnt story ofcours

Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2007/02/15 11:31 bring the time limit for a match to 60 mn is a very good idea.

but i've got one question : in limited formats, can we play many races in the same deck ?

Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2007/02/15 14:31 I'm glad you got rid of the scoring system for timed matches and introduced draws instead. It descourages some decks.

The simplified draft rules are a big plus too.

One area for potential improvement is the use of Sum Of Opponent's Scores as a tiebreak. I've seen this wrecks players because one of their opponents got disqualified* or dropped**, so I prefer the Sum of Opponent's (Wins - Loses) system.

* A friend lost to someone who got disqualified for cheating the round after. The fact that player didn't win any further games wrecked his tiebrakes and cost him a top 8 spot in a $10,000 tournament (which was won by a team-mate playing the same deck).

** French LotR players with bad starts used to drop to wreck the tiebrakes of the players who beat them. This improved the chances of their team-mates.

Exactly what I was objecting to in a different thread regarding setting up official Alliances (teams). Mind you, it wasn't just the French though they started it.. Team Bad Player used to do that as well (in Legend of the Five Rings), and I think some of them are on the design team nowadays.

Changed point system to 3 for win, 1 for draw and 0 for loss. This was the plan all along, but was missing from that version of the tourney rules.

I blame the proofreader. Fixed.

Agreed. Fixed.

I updated the updated rules... Hopefully that's it, but if you have any more issues with them, please bring them to my attention as soon as possible so the issues can be addressed before the GenCon qualifiers start.

Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2008/01/06 22:30 EVE TSG community in my native town totals a four persons (including me). So, what is a number of rounds for 4 persons' tournament? Default, I think, like tournaments can't be sanctioned. But I hope... What is a minimum of tournament's participants?

And second question... Can a judge take part in the tournament, that he judges? Tourney rules nothing say about this. If answer is negative, I will lose sleep.

P.S. Retire to think, whom's can I bluff to judge... in a good sense.

Re:Tournament Rules Updated - 2008/01/07 10:42 With 4 people a round robin (ie. everyone plays everyone else)is the best format. In theory you would need 2 other people being judges but with such a small number it's probaly easier to ask if everyone is happy with just one person being a judge. We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.

The current minimum number of players for a sanctioned tournament are 8, but we are currently considering lowering that number to 5.

Organizers are welcome to play in their own tournaments, but they must arrange for a number of judges equal to the number of players in a match +1 (i.e. 3 judges would be necessary for standard head-to-head play, 5 for a 2v2 event, etc.). You can read more about this requirement under the multi-judge rules.
