Targeting docked ships - 2008/04/30 19:55Ok I've got a question concerning docked ships. The rulebook says, that docked ships cannot be targeted, but what about news? Can I for example play a news card doing direct damage to a docked ship? Or play Mutiny on a docked ship? The second part of the question - what is the status of ships being assembled? I know that I can play Impending Doom or New Assembly Techniqe on a ship that is being assembled, but on the other hand, let's say i just played Moa with Assembly II tab - can my opponent play Mutiny on it? Thanks in advance.

As you can see these cards require a target, so they cannot be targeted. You will notice that Impending Doom and New Assembly Technique do not have the words target on them. so youmay not play mutiny or direct damage news on them (assuming the news targets a ship which from memory all direct damage does).
The status of a ship being assembled is: "in play", "docked" and "assembling" so as it's docked it can't be targeted with mutiny or the like.
I believe the only thing your opponent could do is catch your ship with an Exiled from the Empire, which would be played while the ship is still on the pile, at this stage the card is on the pile so it can be targeted buy Exiled.
