Greetings all, I'm working on running some demos and local constructed tournaments in the Northern Virginia / Washington DC area. I've found a few folks on the forums, and we have a new mailing list dc-eve@yahoogroups.com and you can pm me to join, or subscribe in yahoogroups.
I'll be running the events at the Game Parlor in Chantilly, perhaps shifting to other locations depending on player interest.
Standard constructed Tournament rules will apply with cards from both sets, games will be either be best out of three, or single games depending on player desire. (Best out of three makes it much more likely folks will be able to use their 13 card sidedeck.) Depending on the size of the event, I plan to play, unless there are enough players that it gets un-wieldy.
I enjoyed meeting folks at with World Championships in Indianapolis and look forward to stirring more interest in the Washington DC area.
First event will be in October after I clear things with the store schedule. I'll run demos early in the day, with the tourney begining around 1pm or so.
Chris PS:> We are testing out 'sanctioned league play' for the event, and more info will be posted as I get it. Post edited by: ChrisHerr, at: 2007/09/12 23:52 Post edited by: ChrisHerr, at: 2007/10/11 14:46 Post edited by: ChrisHerr, at: 2007/10/22 20:41

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos and Constructed events - 2007/09/13 16:42I'm one of those local players Typically me and three other friends meet at Game Parlor (Chantilly) every Friday night to play a mixture of Eve and MTG. Your tournaments starting at 1pm sounds like an ideal thing for a Saturday, and I think most of my play group could attend if they are on Saturdays! Looking forward to seeing some fresh meat/new competition!

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos and Constructed events - 2007/09/13 17:36As I stated before, I'm all over that- both for helping run the Demos and for the tournaments. The Saturday timing is good, too. Just let me know when.

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos and Constructed events - 2007/09/13 22:56Hey all, How would folks feel about Sundays? Looking at the Calendar at the Parlor, there are lots of events on Saturdays, and the staff seem less excited about me reserving tables on Saturdays. I haven't checked what woodbridge is like on Saturdays, but I assume it's similar.
As long as it's in the afternoon on Sunday, I don't have any problems. (like the 1pm I was talking about.)
How do you all feel?

I'd advise checking out Woodbridge. They've got a larger space for CCGs by a significant margin, if I recall correctly.

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos and Constructed events - 2007/10/04 16:48Hey all, We are still working on dates for a tournament event on our EVE emailing list, and the store owner is working to order an Eve Tournament Kit for us so we can have some swag (Packs, promos and a foil) for participants and the winner. We are thinking of a Sunday, 1 to 4pm event right now, probably in the November timeframe. More details to come-
We are getting together at the Game Parlor north on Friday the 12th of October in the evening to play some games, trade, etc, in a relaxed environment. I hope to be there around 6:30pm and we can play till 10pm.
Looking forward to it.

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos & Constructed event - Nov 18th - 2007/10/11 14:50Looking forward to tomorrow night and some good eve games. My friend Kevin Garrett will be there, and I'm not sure about my friend Tom. I'll be chatting with some of my card buddies tonight and will see who I can drag.
[I made a nice flyer for the event on November the 18th that I'll bring with me to get input from folks tomorrow.]

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos & Constructed event - Nov 18th - 2007/11/13 15:31Greetings all, I just wanted to remind folks that our event is this Sunday at 1pm. Sounds like we could have upwards of 9 players on Sunday, and that's not including any folks who might come in after seeing the flyers or trying out the demos I'm running before hand.
Hope to see a good crowd, I'm looking forward to it.

As said above, I'll be there.

I happen to be part of a local group of card players at George Mason University. Many of us head to Game Parlor and several are interested in learning how to play the EVE CCG (We're all subscribers to EVE-Online as well).
You can contact me on eve-online under the name Trebor Locke (if you play the mmo). I run a corporation which is filled with the GMU Gamers and card players

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos & Constructed event - Nov 18th - 2007/11/19 14:59Hey Robert, (and all) I'm glad we were able to hook up with you after the tournament! One of my main reasons for getting these events going is not only to show off the game and attact new players, but to post flyers so existing players can get together! (And my selfish reason that I like to play the game and need opponents!)

Re:Fairfax, VA -Demos & Constructed event - Nov 18th - 2007/11/19 15:04[This is just a brief copy of the results email I sent out to the local mailing list. I figured others might be interested in seeing what style of deck came out on top. -Chris]
Hey all, I had a fun time this Sunday and wanted to thank the folks who came to play. Tom Haid came well prepared and his Gallente 'Superior Inferior Laboratories' deck won every match and only lost one game. What a run! We'll have to buckle down on Sunday Dec 30th for our next constructed tournament to up our resistance! We played best out of three in a pretty timely fashion, and finished four rounds by 4:10pm. Pretty speedy. ; )
Our next tournament is Sunday Dec 9th and it's a 'Limited format event.' I'm looking to keep the same timetable with demos and pickup games from 11am to 1pm, with the Tournament starting at 1pm.
Good times gang!
Chris
PS:> Special thanks to James for running demos 'first thing' as I didn't get there until 11:20 or so!------------------ Christian Herr Washington DC Metro Area
