2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/16 08:13 Diehards, Noobs and Usual Suspects' 1st Online Tournament

Attention: unless someone can provide me with good card scans of all Promo Cards they will not be allowed in the tournament. maybe next time...

Type: Constructed Classic
Registration: until end of Friday 2008-06-27 (GMT)
First Round: Monday 2008-06-30
Entry Fee: None

Rounds: The tournament will start with swiss rounds and end in a Top-4. If there should be a big attendance then it might also be a Top-8. This will be clarified upon end of registration.

Rounds duration:
The play time limit for rounds remain at 60 minutes (self controlled). Due to the expected time differences, players are allocated one week to finish their match and submit their score to the organizer. The allocated time starts with the announcement of the round pairings. The next round may start prematurely if all players have finished their games early.

Programs used: As game clients players are required to use two of the following three programs: OCTGN, LackeyCCG or ArcanistCCG. Players are urged to install Skype (preferably) or similar programs for voice communication during tournament rounds.

Official Languages: English. All announcements and official discussions are made in English. Players may of course converse in other languages they both understand.

Prices: I'll have to see if I can organize something. But for now all I can offer is the honor of winning and a full set card pictures...

Judges: I (Kempeth) will be judge during the tournament. Players are requested to try and solve any rule disputes themself using existing information on the forum. If not possible the game can be paused and the judge contacted by mail.

Scores and Rule Questions: Match scores and rule questions are to be sent to the organizer/judge by both players to avoid cheating. Differing scores are subject to the arbitration by the organizer.

Registration Info: After formally registering in the event section players are required to send the following data to the organizer by email.
  • Full Name
  • Country of residence and local timezone
  • Spoken and understood languages
  • Decklist as Plaintext or CSV
  • The supported programs for gameplay
  • The supported programs for voice communication

Ok. I believe that's it. I myself will wait until the registration is over to see if I participate as a player of limit myself to the role of judge / organizer. It depends on the work this throws off. Or if you folks feel it is unfair to receive all decklists AND participate then I have no problems of sitting this one out...

Re:2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/17 11:37 Sounds very cool.

I guess I need to pick a deck for the Origins event (6/28) and a deck for this (6/27 registration) around the same time.
Out of the available programs, which do you think is the best? [I haven't loaded any of them yet.]

I've answered your question about the programs in a separate thread since I expect some differing opinions from others...

Re:2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/23 06:41 Since (surprisingly) no one from CCP has enabled the event in the event calendar I ask that anyone who wants to attend simply sends me a PM or E-mail over the forum here.

Re:2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/27 06:48 Today's the last day for registration folks!

The way it looks, I'm gonna win my first tournament. If you have sent me your registration somehow any I apparently didn't get it, please leave a post here and I'll see that I can provide a different way for contacting me.

Re:2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/28 09:36 I receive ONE registration. One. I'm therefor canceling the tournament.

I'm very disappointed. From all the folks who spoke up and said they would be interested. One actually is... That's enthusiasm!

Re:2008-06-30 Online Tournament - 2008/06/28 18:44 Perhaps that enthusiasm will change if this Gencon/Origins (or whatever it is) "tournament" goes anywhere. While I fancy the idea of playing a just-for-fun tournament of Eve with friends, I am hardly interested in doing that online through an online program, it's just not the same for me.
