Hmm, cool... Didn't even know about any CCG's from the WH40k universe...
Any links to resources?

Re:Which CCG's did you play(ed) before Eve? - 2006/11/20 10:40 I played...uh, well...none of them before... EvE ccg is my first. Though, as yet, I have not done more than play a demo at Gencon.

so as not to hijack the thread, further thoughts are on my profile.

Re:Which CCG's did you play(ed) before Eve? - 2006/11/20 16:41 First, I played Magic from Mirage to Apocalypse, now I just play one time a year with friends, just to remember old time

After a break, I started L5R with the Gold Edition, and played for 1 to 2 years (Lion and Scorpion player).

Another break later I started to play Call of Cthulhu. I play it since 1 year and still have the cards not too far, but we play less those months.

And I just started Eve with 2 starters deck 2 weeks ago.

I also own some Shadowrun CCG cards, but didn't tried to make a deck.

Re:Which CCG's did you play(ed) before Eve? - 2006/11/20 23:30 Wow...here comes some distant hitory...

I started on Magic from Revised Ed through until Stronghol where I stopped.

I played orignal Jyhad, and followed V:TES all the way through to Gehenna.

I picked up a few packs of Pokemon, but it never really did stick.

I played DoomTown RELIGIOUSLY from beginning to end and beyond, and it's still the best CCG ever! (sorry Kieron, please don't ban me from the forums!)
A good friend of mine was the last world champion, but never got his card made due to the game folding

I tried 7th Sea but never got into i, I was too far behind on the card colelction.

I played L5R from Obsidian until after Diamond. Toku is my hero. I LOVED the settin up until Spirit Wars/Gold, then it was cool, but just not AS cool. There was somethin EPIC about previous plots that drew you in.
Thousand Years of Darkness was the only L5R set to REALLY impress me after the Gold run, and that was because of the AMAZING backstory.

I picked up Warhammer 40k and joined their Scout Service to run intro games and tournies, but it was seriously unbalanced and they had to recreate the game from scratch. A BAD sign.

Warhammer Fantasy Battle was very fun, but had limited potential and a small playing group, so I made the best deck possible, they chaged the rules to stop it winning and I got bored.

I absolutely LOVED Judge Dredd, and it and EVE are the only two games that made me SUPER excited with their launch and release. But Judge Dredd was too good to be true and the game folded after its core set

I played some Dune but never liked it. You should also ALWAYS have a Duncan Idaho to hand, you never know when they'll come in handy.

I dabbled in B5, but couldn't get into it. Too complex and required intense colelcting when I wanted to concentrate on DoomTown.

Netrunner is the second greatest game known to man. It has everything! Danger! Strategy! Violence! Giant Rocks From Space! I got into it long afer it went out of print, but the cards were really available due to overstock.

I collected some Rage (2nd edition) but it wasn't that cool. I expected mroe from giant rampant killing machines.

I got a giant pile of Arcadia: The Wyldhunt as overstock, and it was cool but had little longevity, as a CCG that morphed into a board-game during play

On The Edge was amusing as I love the RPG, but I only got a little as it was very difficult to find. Never go anywhere without a Rain Of Walruses in your pocket...

WWE Raw Deal was a passion of mine from when it first came out until very recently. Even now I'd happily get my decks out and play, but EVE has taken over as my collectable hobby. A good game, and I became a regular TO for it and ran giant regional events. It was cool.
Although it did show me that for all the good that was in it, poor choices by the designer/creator would absolutely spoil many different apsects of the game in favour for one or two. Really taught me a lot about balance and reason and how to deal with abusive cards properly. (They never banned or erratad cards, they just made new cards that stopped them dead and which also would stop several other cards dead, killing several deck concepts. "Magic Bullets" were the bane of the game)

I also am a big fan of VS System, but I'll be dropping that now in favour of EVE too. Sad but only so much money to throw around. But NONE can defeat DooOOooM!

I picked up some UFS, only because they had a Penny Arcade set, which was super cool, and so I could build my ULTIMATE Saggat deck and feel happy that I had achieved soemthing broken. I quickly gave up, finding I had spent my creativity and cash.

*Scratches head to think if he missed any*

Nope.
Got them all!
I don't think I played EVERY CCG ever, but I did well.
Wow, I'm a true cardboard addict...
And I feel much older than I really am...

EDIT- Forgot:
Lord Of The Rings
Cyberpunk
Star Trek
Firestorm
Wars
Rifts
Warlord
Marvel Overpower
Bloodwars
WCW Nitro
Battletech
(most of thes were passing games I never got much of)

Helped Playtest: A Game of Thrones and Godzilla! (still not released)

Re:Which CCG's did you play(ed) before Eve? - 2006/11/23 10:39 Umm if i dont't forget any:

VteS - been playing since Sabbat War, but quited after Hunters and disappointing third edition

Magic - been playing since Mirage, and still loving it .

Netrunner - best game EVER. I love the idea how much control you have over the game, ability to control the flow of resources, card drawing and the speed of the game emphasized the skills of the players and minimized the random factor.

Lord of the Rings - been a tournament player during the Fellowship block and Towers block then lost interest.

Wars - played for a while but Decipher is just brilliant in ruining their own games by bad publishing policy and offering little to zero support to the game.

.hack//ENEMY - same as Wars.

Doomtrooper -played for a short while but didn't like it enough to get hooked.

But EVE looks and plays great so i hope it has biright future

To be honest of all blocks in Magic - the one that has special place in my heart is Tempest block. I was still a small kid when it was released, so i didn't play it seriously just me, my sister and some of my friends but i had most fun with it.
I started playing magic more competitively during the Kamgiawa and i still do. And I think that now is the second golden age of the game.
Btw as we're talking of blocks and stuff - are there any dates set when we could expect next EVE expansion? I'm really very curious how thge game's gonna evolve, and what will be the meta

Also stoked about it being new and being able to start playing while it's in its infancy.

Re:Which CCG's did you play(ed) before Eve? - 2006/12/20 14:44 Here goes with just trying to remember the CCG's I've played.

First are the ones I collected: Warlord- started with Saga of the Storm and finished over 5yrs later with Epic Edition. I collected Judge Dredd (all of 1 set), Shadowrun (both sets, great game shame it folded) and the Psi-Corp expansion of Babylon 5.

Other games I played are: Magic The Gathering, Dune, BloodWars, Rage, Vampire, Shadowfist, Lord of the Rings and World of Warcraft.
We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.

No expect the Spam, spam, spam, spam...

I also played a lot of other card games as Knight of Zodiac, Full Metal Alchemist (not good as the comic), History of war(a good and cheap german game about WWII), Call of Cthulu, Anachromism (mainly japaneses, chineses and scottish heroes), Wars ccg (I was the only player in my town ). Now I play a little Magic, L5R, Naruto (shame on me). I discovered EVE ccg one month ago and was impressed by it.
