Re:Patrick Wojtowicz, 1st place Gen Con So Cal - 2006/11/29 11:33Was really only a matter of time before a Caldari blitz deck showed up in a top 4; their ship selection is just sickeningly good, plus Info At A Cost is too.
If the guy who played the deck is on the forum, I'd like to know the reasoning behind the rather random starbase structure selections, though.

Re:Patrick Wojtowicz, 1st place Gen Con So Cal - 2006/11/29 16:03I'm pretty sure he swapped them out for his side deck, but this is Blatherskite's deck, so he should be able to explain better.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Patrick Wojtowicz, 1st place Gen Con So Cal - 2006/11/29 17:20everything had to do w/ my opponent looking at my deck so I tried to hide stuff. I ran 4x Advanced ship yard. That was my only Starbase structure.
I also ran all the news in my sideboard.
I only ran 2x Blackbird, or 2x Cormorant...never both. Never merlin. Just kept the ships real small.

Agreed... we've had a couple of sanctioned tournies now with the side-decking / pre-game viewing rule and Im just wondering how well this has been accepted. I'm still not convinced that this is the way to go, but I suppose these things can be left to the tourney organiser's discretion.============================ "There is always Hope...." - Elessar Telcontar ============================

I'm not a fan of the rule and I don't think anyone who played in that tournament was. My list included 13 cards from my Amarr deck just to avoid my opponent getting to see what news cards I was running.
If you've got any suggestions on how side-boarding should work (in a best of 1 format) I suggest you send them to Zack.

Brokkur, Tallest and I have been going back and forth on this issue, so knowing exactly what you guys want to see would help us in deciding what to do.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

I dont mean to gripe without offering some sort of constructive alternative... but it's not the side-decking issue i have trouble swallowing: it's the rule that goes hand-in-hand with side-decks whereby you can peruse your opponent's deck pre-game (and amend your own deck as you see fit). It's the first I've ever heard of this in a CCG, and the talk on the boards is that it's to prevent scouting at tourneys. If this is the case there have been numerous alternative suggestions including posting all decks pre-tourney, enforcing that players leave the play area right after their game finishes etc. I dont mean to bang on about it, but if there is some other driving force behind the pre-game deck viewing then i would lurve to know... ============================ "There is always Hope...." - Elessar Telcontar ============================

Re:Patrick Wojtowicz, 1st place Gen Con So Cal - 2006/11/30 16:31My suggestion: Ditch looking through your opponents deck. I don't think I've heard one player on this forum support having your deck looked through. The tournaments at our store will not use that rule, but we will use the Side Deck.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

We should probably move this discussion out of your deck thread hehe
My opinion still is that we should be playing 1 hour rounds, 3 games per round, with side decks after each game. Eve is plenty quick enough to accomodate best of 3 in most situations, and best of 3 is eminently doable with good judges.
