Re:OCTGN links... - 2007/01/23 09:50 Just a thought: People might not know what "OCTGN" refers to. It might be an idea to call it "OCTGN Online Play" or such in the menu. ============================

Re:OCTGN links... - 2007/01/23 11:20 Good idea Onyx. "Online Play (OCTGN)" could be another possibility.

I read your guide onyx. It's really good. A few suggestions though...

reveal hand: There is an option in octgn that allows for this. Should be available in the context-menu for the player hand.

For cards like "emperors decree" where you have to reveal cards cards from your market until you hit a certain card are best done moving card by card to the play area (if you have enough space) or the tempstack (visible to opponent). This way you prove to your opponent that you really took the first valid card and didn't just pick one from in-between. You can easily shuffle the tempstack back into your market through the tempstack's context menu. If you for some reason (another card) do not have to shuffle you should be able to simply drag them back thereby restoring the original order.

ending your turn: Just double click on the next player's name. This produces a gong and an appropriate message in the chat panel.

commands: I found that using "Set text" in the context menu to indicate the active command is far easier than having to work with tapping and flipping which is necessary for ships with more than one command...

Yeah, i noticed from playing a game with Zack last night that the tutorial perhaps made things slightly more complicated than they need to be (especially By the Emperor's Decree!!) but I'd say that people will overcome these issues the more they use the program.

Perhaps we should start a thread regarding OCTGN issues / workarounds, or even just useful tips that people have discovered... The points that you have made here would be a good start for such a thread

After all, it's pretty much you guys that run this website, right? I just do the dirty work.

Does that mean we can send Kaemon to get our coffee too?
No but seriously, in case you're feeling under-appreciated, can I just say a great big THANK YOU for doing all of this...
