Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/22 17:53More and more of you are volunteering to help out at conventions by demonstrating and even running tournaments, and I'd like to make sure you get the sweet card lovin' you deserve for it. I've run this list by the powers that be,a nd received approval, so here's what I can offer those of you who volunteer ar cons:
For cons White Wolf attends: 1. EVE Store credit. I've received approval to offer any volunteers (not just the ones at conventions) credit in the EVE Online store. If I can verify that you've run an event with 8+ people, you will receive $.5 USD per person in credit. Even if you can't make it to the cons, you'll can still receive these credits by running events at your local store or club.
2. One booster display. Anyone who gives me one day of work or more will get a free booster display. Simple as that.
For cons White Wolf doesn't attend: 1. Double regular store credit. Volunteers who run 8+ player tournaments will receive $1 USD credit per person in the EVE Online store. This increased award does not apply to Agents who run events at stores or game clubs; it's designed to reward those Agents who go to the extra trouble to schedule their events at cons.
2. One booster display. The rules for this are the same as above.
I can't make any promises about this, but I will also look into getting comp badges for you. There's a very good chance that you'll have to buy your own way into the con, especially those I won't be at, but (holds up Boy Scout salute) I promise I'll always try to work with the con organizers to get you in for free.

Um, hmm. Is it too late to take back my offer to do it for free? *Grin*-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules! We're playing Monday evenings in IL, see www.games-plus.com for the address or email me at ryuteki AT gmail DOT com.

DundraCon EVE Tourney will only be 4 hours, but I hope to get around 16 players.
Is there a form we have to fill out? How do we demonstrate attendance?
The Tournament was registered in time to make the printed program booklet, I am told, and I will be publicizing it locally as best I can.

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/23 04:53That, unfortunately, would require the player database system be finished and linked to the event calendar. I've been kicking and screaming for more people to be assigned to the web end of this project, but it's still just the one guy, and he's working himself ragged with the Flash demo and tournament software.
Go ahead and plan your events, and report your attendance to me. If nothing else, I'll get some "coupons" set up for the online store that I can hand out to the Agents. To ease the process, I've also got some player and deck registration forms that I'll try to get up on the site.
And remember: I'm choosing from the most active locations in North America for ten $1,000 USD Qualifier Tournaments in February. You still have time to run events and get some notice before I finalize all the locations!Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/23 11:45as previously stated i would be more than willing to assist with running tournaments at cons (gencon uk, hangoverfromhell) and my local gamestore for more regular events (bishopgames in coventry uk).
Do we need to officially signup somewhere or send you an email zack to confirm or is this post enough? and until web apps are completed im guessing all tournament attendance and results sent to yourself?.
Rewards are awesome, but more important is that you keep producing this awesome game

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/23 13:11I had been thinking about pressganging my friend into helping me run some organised play events, but I would assume that, if there were 2 of us doing the Tourney Director / Assistant thang, we would just split the booster box. Correct? So the choices are:
Run the tourney solo
Hoodwink him about the reward scheme and pocket all the phat lewt myself

For cons, everyone who works their fair share gets a booster, and those who organize tournaments get the store credit. So long as I give the "okay" on the two of you working together, Onyx, (which I almost definitely will) you'll both get a booster and half the store credit (which works out to the regular rate for each of you). Now, if someone comes to me and claims that five people helped out at a 200-person con, I'll give them one of these: , and then tell them, as politely as possible, to go to hell. I want to reward as many of you as possible, but things also need to be kept reasonable. (Not to pick on you, Onyx, but you brought up something I needed to address. )
For events at local shops or clubs, things will need to be a bit more strict. Since the credit is given out based on attendance, it's going to be easier, logistically, to simply reward it to the organizer of record, and have them split it up among everyone who helped out. I'd like to give you all the full reward, but I don't have the time or money to do anything but give the money to one person and trust you to sort it out.
To receive all this, just email me before your event and ask for the player and deck registration forms. Have everyone fill these out and then mail or fax them to me after the event for verification.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/23 21:58So how, if at all, does the Agent program relate to judges when it comes to 'official' tournaments, or will those be judged by WhiteWolf/CCP members?

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/24 02:33Agents will be trusted to organize and judge tournaments for the most part. Until we move into a more rgid tournament structure with bigger prizes at stake, there's not much need to go to the trouble of creating a test and certifying judges. These things are in the works, but they won't show up for a little while.
For the major tournaments at which one of us can be present, CCP employees will run things, but if none of us can make it, we'll see to it that a Great Big Important Judge is selected.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Rewards for Agents at conventions - 2007/01/24 14:01The information requested is what's needed to sign players up for the database/website, so it's name, user name, email, address and phone number. I'm asking that the forms be filled out both so I can track attendance and so new players can be signed up here.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America
