Need your Second Genesis fix? I got the stuff. - 2007/01/04 19:01Want to play EVE, but there's no one else around you with a deck? Need a way to try out your new deck before trading for the cards it needs? There's a great resource out there that has been overlooked by all but a few of us: OCTGN. You owe it to yourself (and poor, lonely OnyxVerde) to check this program out.
Note: Everything here has been posted previously in other threads, I'm just collecting it all together.
The first place you should head is here, Calmdown's skeezy download page. It will lead you to the OCTGN program itself, as well as Onyx's Second Genesis Core Set file. OCTGN is just a tabletop program, so you'll need the EVE file to play with something other than generic playing cards.
Next, you should check out http://www.octgn.org, the program's official site. The FAQ and forums here are invaluable if you run into problems with the program.
Finally, if you're unable to connect directly with other players, you can use the public server. Its IP is IP ADDRESS AND PORTS REMOVED AT REQUEST OF OWNER -AgentZero
And remember, you can always check in the IRC channels for opponents. They are #eve-ccg and #evegame on the Coldfront IRC network.

I have improved the patch from scrapheap-challenge by using the official pictures, correcting typos and finish updating to the current Errata. I also added Deck-Lists (the xml files) for all the 4 Starter Decks (included in zip) and Demo Decks. They can be imported using the OCTGN Deck-Editor.
I've given my patch to Zack to put it online here as kind of an official patch.

When you are looking for a game partner please also visit the #octgn channel (the default octgn chat channel). We don't wanna look all shy and introverted, do we? The people at cardfloppers noticed a lot of players they have never seen in the chat. It is only fair that we introduce ourselves and say hi when we use their system.

That's fair enough but I've been over there a couple of times to say 'Hiya', I've mentioned that I'm new to the octgn community, how they hangin? etc and there's been absolutely no response. I also posted at great length on their boards, apologising for not adhering to their policy of making myself known before jumping on their public servers etc. Similarly, absolutely no response. I'm just wondering if Fred et al are more interested in moaning about perceived unscrupulous behaviour than about promoting their community / client application... It would have been nice for any sort of response, especially since I only went over there because they had requested we do so. The chat is a little special. At times there are like a dozen users and no one types a single line in hours and then there are times where the chat is busy like a bee's hive on fire...

I'm always up for a game and tend to be free most evenings between 9pm and midnight GMT, so i reckon that's about 4-7pm NY time. Obviously I can go later at the weekends... Best to PM me earlier that day if you fancy a game. Other potential OCTGNers that are in your time zone possibly include: Xeserox Kaemon Agent Zero... (but he's not very good and cheats loads )
