Concept: The idea behind the deck, mass explosions paving the way to freedom for the oppressed mass's of the minmatar. No seriously!

Endgame we have the mighty typhoon backed by cruisers scythe and stabber.

The deck works as follows, build quick kamikaze frigates and overwhelm your opponents starbase, while fleet is getting to the required size destroy your opponents ships through news cards such as adasters, vaktioth and vicious (BOOM cards). A particurlarly nasty lock can be created by holding sanshas nation you can return the BOOM cards from the scrapheap and continually reuse them, this does however prevent you drawing any additional cards unless you skip your
isk creation and therby can draw 1 from market 1 from scrapheap.

The Echoes of gloom bay provide a much needed card draw mechanic for the deck, you should be destroying or at least minimising your opponents fleet to the point he cannot hold an outer region therfore you should be able to draw 1- 3 cards. A further option for ship destruction opens up in later turns with the scythe, this ship is really a BOOM card in disguise and will be continually reassembled to destroy your opponents ships. The deck also easily builds up a
fleet that can attack normally but this is NOT the desired effect but if possible use it.

The most valuable BOOM cards are the remnants of vaktioth they can with enough income destroy any ship, they can work around unexpected issues like stubborn mechanic i.e just pay 2 isk extra when the card is played. Also you can target your own ships with remnant to draw an additional card when the remnant gets to duration 1.

The final sting in the tail and the suprise for those who have missed this card is trial and error, this card creates sickeningly large kamikaze attacks based off the number of kamikaze ships that are already in the scrapheap.

Typhoon is the endgame card if the game drags on in a stalemate this monster should hopefully resolve the issue, and is incredibly useful if used in conjunction with vicious cycle.

Forgotten paradise is there to speed up the start, the drawback of giving my opponent income is usually negated by the fact i can destroy the ship he plays.

Ibis is in sideboard as starbase shields.

Ideal starting hand: forgotten paradise, star chart enterprises, adasters disaster, breacher, scythe, veldspar

example 1st turn play: play paradise, play breacher, play star chart, play sanshas nation, move breacher to nation.

2nd turn : isk = 3 potentially more from star chart, play additional low cost kamikaze ship or react to opponents ships with adasters.

concerns: I would prefer a faster isk curve, but cannot afford to distract from the main goal of kamikaze ship creation and news destruction (of my opponents ships), the deck cannot reliably hold more than 1 region which is generally sanshas nation, unless the news is completely removing my opponents fleet then i can afford to spread out onto my further 2 regions withdrawing at the 1st sight of trouble.

I realise also that my starbase is extremely vunerable but once again the deck relies on speed to overwhelm the opponent before they can setup so there are a few quick starbase shield alternatives and deterents included such as the sentry guns and more specifically the ibis (nicknamed mr shieldy).

thoughts advice etc... all welcome

Re:njrobin 2nd place bishop games UK 18/02/07 - 2007/03/05 17:50 njrobin has been pestering to put up the winning deck from this tournament, which is now listed below.

Pretty fitting as well seen as Trial and Error is causing so much debate at the moment, my personal opinion is that the card is strong, but not as fast a people are hoping it to be and its definately not broken.

Minmatar – Frailty Tower

Outer Regions

Lonetrek
Heaven
Ginnungagap

Ships - 29

4 x Burst
4 x Wreathe
4 x Slasher
4 x Breacher
4 x Probe
4 x Rifter
2 x Stabber
2 x Scythe
1 x Caracal

News – 11

4 x Adaster’s Disaster
3 x Trial and Error
2 x Remnant of Vak’atioth
2 x Insurance Fraud

Locations – 12

4 x Remote Research Facility
3 x Star Chart Enterprises
3 x Veldspar
2 x Scordite

Sideboard - mainly anti news stuff and few big ships

The deck is fairly standard Kamikaze affair, it just uses RRF facility to draw cards and get the cards you need in the scrapheap. There are definatley several changes I would make to the deck if had the cards ( 4 x TaE being one of them). The stabbers are not great (in this deck) and I also found that Insurance Fraud wasn't working for me as much as i wanted it to. Thinking of filling these slots with Anit News stuff as Amarr really hurt this deck.

All comments welcome,

Cheers
