Re:My first deck - take a look - 2007/04/03 06:44You have waaaay to many single cards for a sixty card deck... This makes your draws extremely unrelieable. While you might just get the ideal combination, the likelyhood of doing so is slim - as slim as a needle on a hunger strike...
Drop about half your ship types and substitute them for more instances of ship types you already have in the deck. Same with news. You don't have to put in 4 of everything but if you want to draw something it should at least have 3 instances in your deck. Single Cards are for things you really only have once and think you need in the deck. Or if you have room to spare (ie. all cards put together and still below 52 cards) and find a card that would be handy or fun to play but not necessary.
One card in a deck of sixty cards is very unlikely to show up in your hand and therefore come into play without some special effect. You'll need about 23 to 15 turns to even get a 50% chance of drawing it. Hardly any game should last that long...

Re:My first deck - take a look - 2007/04/04 18:33im guessing here but im taking it your working from a limited pool of cards?
if so id try to focus the deck as much as possible on one theme with what u got and slim it down to the 52 card minimum, this should help you draw into the cards you want quicker.
if you have them i recomend adding more advanced shipyards and where possible 4 copies of the starting turn low cost ships i.e velators or ibis, it is very important in eve to get early defence, region holding or mining income going, NOTE not all 3 but at least 1 puts you on the right track to winning.
id personally lose, the scrap metal garage, the bomb threat, manufacturing error, crooked accomplice, rookie mistakes and 1 or 2 ships.
I think you have teh right number of locations for a 52 card deck but id swap out the offensive city of god for an income gainer say another ITP.
hope this helps.

Re:My first deck - take a look - 2007/04/05 11:17I would also drop the moon harvester and focus the ships side mainly on those costing 7 ISK or less. Pull in the ISK and get as many offensive ships out as quickly as possible. Hedbergite might be a good card to replace a couple of your locations.
Good luck and hope all the advice is useful. We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.

Re:My first deck - take a look - 2007/05/27 23:17Hi dave, I aint no expert as you know but I think you would do well to cut your deck size down to 52 or thereabouts to better guarantee the cards you get out. I aint going to comment on the cards for you to get rid of as you'll think I'm doing it as I'm playing against you!!!
Only thing I would say is insteas of having lots of single copies of ships, have more where you have more then one copy.

Re:My first deck - take a look - 2007/06/25 13:56First off, way too many ships. For a great deck, you should have six different ships AT MOST.
Here's the thing. The idea behind any good deck is to have ONE SINGLE plan on how to win. Find the right combo of cards you need to make a 6th turn or less win (usually around 5-10 cards necessary for that) make 4x copies of those cards (or as many as you can muster) and then fill up your deck. Make multiple copies of a few ships (only the ones you need to take the tower and defend you outer regions), and stick to the news cards that serve the singular intent of your deck.
Finally, because the purpose is to win quick in tourney play, cut out big ships (perhaps leaving one or two for drawn out play, but no more, and preferably none). Stick to frigs for quick 1st through 5th turn play en masse, then bring out your dessies for the kill. With a Gallente deck, a Thorax may be useful, but only in a draining deck, as your opponent can make Thorax useless if his wallet is secure.
And NO INDUSTRIALS!! They are too slow to develop for tourney play. Stick with mining for ISK and use mining frigs to get the job done (Navis work well for outer region mining, as their shield count is impressive).
There's a few tips that might help. Best of luck!
