Re:2nd Place Green Bay, WI Qualifier - 2007/04/18 18:10The hoped-for opening is Star Chart Enterprises, Scordite, Cormorant, Hired Enforcers. Play both locations first turn, Cormorant second turn, HE for the winning 7-power attack on the third turn. Things rarely work out so smoothly though... I actually pulled that draw 3 times out of 13 games - once my Cormorant was Exiled from the Empire, once it worked, and once my Cormorant died to an 8-point Remnant of V.
The rest of the time you pull out your miners and go to town, often in Dam Torsad but occasionally in Heath or Khanid depending on your draw and your opponent's deck. If you have to go that route, you work on building up your attack ships and gathering your news (HE, Mechanics and Damage Control). Play Veterans and Pirates as required and affordable.
I've recently been toying around with replacing Coercer with Brutix (thanks to the tournament boosters I won I finally have 4 of them). It's a bit slower, and harder to take towers with, but it's possible with the Enthrallment Tower's anti-money ability and it is GREAT for controlling outer regions.-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules! We're playing Monday evenings in IL, see www.games-plus.com for the address or email me at ryuteki AT gmail DOT com.

Re:2nd Place Green Bay, WI Qualifier - 2007/04/18 18:45I like the focus on a 3rd turn win, have you considered running Forgotten Paradise to better guarantee that 2nd turn Cormorant? It allows you to 1st turn Sancha's, 2nd turn Paradise for a total of 8 ISK...
One card I've seen a lot of in tournaments is Slave-Dog Stowaways.. I'd consider at least running this guy in the Sidedeck; it really helps slow most opponents down.
Anyway here's to hoping the next set gives Gallente some more 6-7ISK assembly:1 ships with 5 power or more
