Re:EVE @ Game07, Manchester, UK - 2007/06/26 10:02Forget your hangovers and just give us the jucy news! Who won, how much beer = copious, what was the dominate faction, who got off with the EVE tv crew? We need details (and possibly pictures as well, even moving ones)! We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.

Re:EVE @ Game07, Manchester, UK - 2007/06/26 12:03The hangover was never the problem the lack of sleep however was a different matter. Now i've finally caught up on it all here we go with a breif run down of Game07.
First a thank you to Calmdown for running a great event in spite of the poor organanisation of Game07 (it took most people over 1.5 hours to get into the Con) and for EVE:TV for tunring up to film us all.
Right as to the tournament. There were 8 players in total - 4 from Coventry (one of whom only really learnt how to play the game on Tues night so he had something to do on the Sat of Game07), 2 from Stafford, 1 from Ireland and one from Wales (Cheers for travelling guys)
As for the races played I think there were 4 Caldari players, 2 Amarr players, 1 Gallente and 1 Minmatar.
With only 8 players we played three rounds with a cut for top 2. The final ended up being between Jase (the Cov player we taught Tues night ) playing Gallente and Bryan ( the forums very own Onyx Verde ) playing Caldari. In a very friendly but brutal final Jase ended up winning 2 - 1.
As for the EVE:TV coverage, we have heard it should be out this friday.
One of the main highlights of the day had to be NJRobin leaning on what he thought was a solid pillar only for it to collapse underneath him and seeing him sprawled all over the floor.
Thanks to all who attended and made it such a great day.

Re:EVE @ Game07, Manchester, UK - 2007/06/26 12:33I've become all inspired since this tourney, to the extent that I'll be putting together a wee article for the site. I'll be giving a more blow-by-blow account of the matches and the various deck styles, as well as other highlights from the day... (pics to be included hopefully!) I'll get my decklist posted hopefully tonite, along with brief explanatory notes.
In short though, as Stormbirds says, it was such a fun day!! There was a good turnout by acccomplished players from various ends of the UK which made for a very competitive tournament, although the entire emphasis was on having a laugh instead of just focusing on trying to gank opponents viciously.
EVETV did show up to record the proceedings, but unfortunately none of the lady presenters weighed in. We had to make do with the mercurial spiralJunkie, who more than made up for the lack of tasty birds...
I would like to reiterate my thanks to Ian (Calmdown) for organising everything and for managing to turn up despite a personal injury which had him wincing in pain for most of the day, despite all the liquid anaesthetic he managed to consume...
Cheers also to my fellow CEOs who made the day very memorable and light-hearted. Havent met such a nice bunch of lads in gaming circles before, and it was very refreshing to be able to have a giggle as well as some quality games of ESG. Thanks a million fellas!! See ya all next time...

GenCon UK is at the end of August (by which time Exiled will be out*). Will you guys have recovered enough for another round by then?

I had heard you were about and had a quick look for you, but then we all succumbed to the Call Of The Pints. Catch ya next time fella... GenCon UK is at the end of August (by which time Exiled will be out*). Will you guys have recovered enough for another round by then? Very very very tempted... Last i heard though there wasnt a lot of interest in an EVE tourney at GenCon UK, NJRobin's post on their boards remains unanswered, and i dunno if Zack ever got back to Mikelosaurus about prize support / CCPWW presence etc (im guessing "no" on this one or else we would have heard something by now)...
BUT! A lot can happen in a couple of months. And besides, if the turnout amounted to the same punters who turned up to Game07 (+ DTee this time of course), it would be a total hoot. Who needs prizes and big attendances when you have Total Hoots... Actually, i would even just turn up to go on the pish with that lot again ============================ "There is always Hope...." - Elessar Telcontar ============================

I'll probably be on point for arranging stuff at GenCon UK. ATM we're just scheduling demos, but if there are enough players going we can try and arrange a tournament (or even a draft) too.

Re:EVE @ Game07, Manchester, UK - 2007/06/27 10:31My vote would be for a tournament on the Sunday, so as not to clash with other events that are floating arround the convention.
mikelosaurus if you are busy doing demo's all weekend and just need somebody on standby to run a tournament on the Sunday then i'd be more than willing - I really don't fancy working another full Gencon after having done about five , however i'd be willing to run EVE on Sunday for those that wanted to play. Even if its not a sanctioned event, if we are all going to be there anyway, might as well play the game
Cheers

Re:EVE @ Game07, Manchester, UK - 2007/06/28 09:51I think the origional lack of interets was because we were looking for somwhere to run a qualifier and GenCon UK was simply too late in the season.
Getting 8 players together on the Sunday should be an absolute sinch.

No sweat. I can remember how embarrissing having oldies turn up. Guess I could stand in the corner and look on
I'll have to wait and see if I can make it if one is going to happen as well. It'll depend on other people going. The bane of the non-car owners! We shall seed the stars with our scions and reap that harvest.
