We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 00:50 Because, you know, we support them by buying... cards and stuff!

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 04:49 Hey your right! And also they should let us borrow their cars whenever we visit Iceland, and,.. and stay in their houses for free and eat their food!

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 08:23 Love the reply to your thread from baca

EO is cheap as chips as far as I am concerned, apart from being the only fully featured MMO ,it is exciting to be in a game world where you know anyone else who plays it is also in the same world as you because it's all on one shard unlike all the other MMO in existance

And the complexity of it means there is so much to do it's unbelievable, even after 8 months I have not even used 50% of all the available options/careers/gameplay

Free would mean the end of innovation in EveOnline,no thank you

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 08:32 Ummm.... we sort of do get to play it for free, thanks to the 20-day-trial gamecards in booster boxes. ============================

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 19:33 I am not agreeing with the OP but making 20 day trials as box toppers was interesting. Making 20 day cards for players that already play EO would be even more interesting. Some companies put promos for Toppers. CCP puts 20-day or 30-day codes.
I am assuming the trial codes prevent someone from playing continuously(sp) for months on end...

EO is cheap as chips...EO is more expense than most MMO's I am aware of. $20/month vs $15/month.
I'm not complaining. EO was ok. I'm not big on MMO's for various reasons.

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/08 21:38 Every trial you play, you've got to start over again. And the problem is, I really can't afford to play EVE. I just wish there was some alternative form of payment. Like writing fluff or EVE CCG articles, working a street time, or modding a forum.

Heck, I have tons of experience modding and administrating message boards.

I wanna play EVE.

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/09 09:31 EVE Online's subscription rate is the same as other MMOs, 15$ per month, with discounts offered for longer subscriptions.

supremespleen, we are going to be starting a forum moderation team for the CCG forums in the near future, there will be rewards for modding the forums. Keep an eye out for more information early next year.

EVE Online volunteers do have some benefits, like a compensated play account. However, you have to have a minimum of three months playing the game (depending on the volunteer team) in order to be considered.

I would love to assist with forum related stuff.

And ach, to bad between trials and the month of paid that I played, it only adds up to about 2 months. I assume those kindly chaps that typed in blue and assisted in rookie help were volunteers? What other volunteer groups are there?

You know... Kieron, I can only work with what I know.
At Gencon (no less than 3 months ago), CCP was selling 20-day cards for $15 and telling customers $20/month.

Still, Play cards as box-topper/chase cards is still a good idea.

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/09 19:44 That's such an awesoem idea, and as an EVEO Online player, I should get free CCG support, as I pay CCP their bread and butter.

Free CCGs and free MMORPGS
Now I don't even need to work.

I don't think it'll take off though...

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/09 22:06 I'm debating starting another trial up as Caldari or Amarr. I don't like how Amarr are such zealots, but I love their ships. Caldari frigs are cool but get pretty ugly after that.

Yah, those guys were volunteers. Their text chat color is different depending on their role in the volunteer program or status as a CCP employee.

There are four divisions in the player volunteer program, called the Interstellar Services Department or ISD (story). You have STAR which is for in game player support, AURORA - in game events, CRC - forum moderation, and ECAID - bug hunting.

There is a bit of information about ISD in general here. Getting in can be a bit of a process, though, but everyone starts at this web page. From what I've heard, its very rewarding to be a part of.

Oops, forgot the fifth division of ISD, the Interstellar Correspondents (IC) which handles the in game news reporting.

edit: I've sent an application in, for forum moderation in particular. I hope they don't just delete when they see I'm sending from a trial account. I've played plenty, I swear!

Re:We should get to play EVE for free! - 2006/11/12 03:30 Uh-oh, double postage! Has anyone here ever applied for one of these?

I am curious as to whether or not one would receive a rejection e-mail or not.
