...if only I'd made it to the finals. *grin* Looks like a good solid deck. My only big issue with it is your Manufacturing Errors, which I see would work well against a standard frigate deck, but you really have nothing to discard vs. a Cormorant-based deck, and no backup other than outfighting them with AstroLabs. It becomes a matter of who pulls the faster draw. On the other hand, yours would fare much better against Mike's Amarr Denial abilities.
That's what I love about this game - it's all balances and trade-offs.-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules! We're playing Monday evenings in IL, see www.games-plus.com for the address or email me at ryuteki AT gmail DOT com.

Re:1st Place Gencon deck - 2007/08/30 05:19Oh yes...the Cormorant. It's is funny you mentioned that as that was a ship I was worried about...especially not being able to ME it. And I did face a few of them, and what I did was ignore them for the most part. If you can take away their support-other ships, and news...they are easier to deal with. Inferior Iterons with the Astro-lab love to eat Cormorants, but then again so do Tristans and Catalysts with some Astro-lab love. Don't forget I ran my own HE also. The Catalyst, Tristan, Hired Enforcer (best card to discard IMO), Central Fleet Command, handled most other ships when it came to Manufacturing Error.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

Why no Pre'Vet'Retirement in your deck ? I think it can be useful on enemy ship as on yours, isnt it ?
I guess you have your reasons

Re:1st Place Gencon deck - 2007/08/30 12:36I like the use of Central Fleet Commands. Almost makes those Catalysts worth playing
I hate to imagine what you've done to the list with Exiled. Gallantee have some very subtle but powerful cards, good job the other races do too...

Re:1st Place Gencon deck - 2007/08/30 14:15Originally I had Vets Premature Retirement, but I just found in play testing that it was two expensive, Thats why I went to the Manufacturing Errors...which basically do the same thing.
Exiled has been good to this deck Dtee BTW...the Catalyst is a stud!!Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

Re:1st Place Gencon deck - 2007/08/30 15:15well now you can Problem Solver either your 3rd or 4th copy of a same ship in play to hand to reveal via Astronautical Laboratories, or simply Problem Solver the astrolab to reuse it
I bet you're running 4 Serpentis Protectors
BTW love the location build (I'd add an extra Slave Mines)!

Re:1st Place Gencon deck - 2007/08/30 20:43Yes...the Serpentis Protector is in the current build. I hadn't thought of using Problem Solver that way...nice one, i'll have to check that out.
I kept going back and forth with 4x Crokite or 4x Slave Mines...either would probable work. Just comes down to preference.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

Aye, I was running both of them myself, and generally found that either I didn't need either one of them, or I was throwing Vets to power ME. With the Brutixes in my deck though, there were a couple times where I was glad of the ability to make them repay for a ship, so I could get them low enough in ISK that Enthrallment Tower could drain their coffers.-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules!
