Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/30 12:17I wanted to draw people's attention to my favourite news card in Exiled and find out what their favourites are. This one isn't the strongest but it's an absolute hoot...
Miscommunication 3 isk Any race When you play Miscommunication, you may choose one news card from target opponent's scrapheap and play it as if it were in your hand by paying its price. Ignore any race restrictions on that card that may be displayed in the upper left corner (racial affinities still apply).
No longer shall we wine about the "unfair" news cards that my opponent gets to play and how our favourite race (Caldari) doesn't get to use them. It's payback time!
If you play Veterans Premature Retirement, Adaster's Disaster or Exiled from the Empire against me you're saying they're fair game and can expect them thrown back at you later. The 3 isk surcharge will be enough to stop Miscommunication showing up in every deck but beating people with their own cards is so much fun that some of us will pay it gladly.

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/30 14:00I wouldn't mind sending back a Ship Comp. Glitch back at a Caldari too .
My personal favorite news right now is Dead or Alive. You get to kill a ship or make the opponent discard at each turn. And with the all new shield-boosting structures, heavy gunners are very needed, making the choice of destroying them a hard one.

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/30 14:19There are so many good cards...right now I really like Serpentis Spy.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

The Problem Solver News 2 ISK Return target friendly ship to owner's hand. Gallente: Instead return any friendly card to owner's hand.
This has some very nice interactions with many cards, and the reason I like it so much is how well it fits in my Inferior Iteron/Astronautical Laboratories deck Potential targets: Incubation Dome Astronautical Laboratories (reveal, bounce, replay, reveal) Hired Enforcers (in collaboration with Damage Control ) Inferior Iteron (save in battle, etc.)
And it's only 2 ISK!

I thought you might have spotted that one. It's so versatile that it's likely to show up in most Gallantee decks.
I'm still not sure about Serpentis Spy and Dead or Alive. Their both interesting in their own way, but they're a little narrow for my tastes.

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/30 15:57Dead or Alive is wonderful with The Scope. In fact, there are many wonderful cards that work with The Scope:
Mutiny Bomb Threat Malevolent Betrayal Blackmail Prophecy of Macabre ()
And I'm sure I'm missing a few...

Florishing Trade Route gets up to speed faster... and it'll give someone that relies on duration-news to stay in play (*cough*Lost Deliveries*cough*) a real headache trying to keep it that way.
As for my favorites... not quite sure so far. Postnatal is a good one for me, as is the aforementioned Scope/Macaber trick. Spread of Influence is another one that has potential coming out of its ears.
Finally, Mastermind. Yikes, this one has "Broken" written all over it in red ink... has anyone really considered this plus Serpentis Prime? We're just lucky neither Bantam nor Scimitar are available to Mastermind players.

Not sure how this would work. A soon a ship leaves Serpentis Prime, it is destroyed. Would Mastermind's bounce be quick enough to save them from being destroyed?
BTW, you could always combo Bantam or Scimitar with Stairway to Heaven

...I think so. I mean, the cards are already back in your hand by that point, right?

Too slow, IMO. You have to play (and PAY for) it, get the effect, then bounce it at the end of turn. Have to wait until next turn to do it again. With mastermind, you can make it all happen at once for 2 ISK. Sides, Stairway also nukes whatever other shipping you're doing, whereas Mastermind can do a whole host of other benificial things.

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/30 20:50I gave alot of thought to the Mastermind/Serpentis Prime thing and I believe the ships would be destroyed and not go to hand. We'll probably need something official on that one though.
To bad Caldari can't run Mastermind!Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

There is official precedent with this, from the Veteran's Premature Retirement + Serpentis Prime discussions. By the time Serpentis Prime triggers, the cards aren't in play any more, and it fizzles.
Using Mastermind this way works just fine.

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/31 09:27My favorite so far (haven't looked at them all yet) is Concord Customs Official. An odd chooise perhaps and it's not becouse of it's inpact on play I choose it, but rather becouse it reminde me of this cronicle. One of my favorites, ever since I read it long befor the online game was released I wanated to play the part of that customs official! Come to think of it I should write a "sugest a card" thingy about makeing Maya Arikinnen a new pilote card... hmmmm

Re:Favourite Exiled cards - 2007/08/31 09:38The mastermind/serpentis prime thing comes back to zones. By the time the triggered ability on Serpentis Prime resolves the ship has moved zones (from in-play to hand) so the affect fizzles and you get your ship fully assembled.
The Concord Custom's offical works really well with Cloud Ring but I've not found the right deck for that one yet.
