Attacking Home Regions - 2007/09/04 21:23I had a rules question come up as far as finishing the game (I'm a newbie, sry): When attacking a home region, can you deal your damage to the home region only after all enemy ships are destroyed or withdrawn, or can you target the station and have any surviving attackers after damage is dealt to them deal their damage to the station? The latter seems odd from a rules perspective to me, and far too open and confusing, but my friend believes it to be the case so I would just like clarification and hopefully back-up. thank you for your time.

Re:Attacking Home Regions - 2007/09/04 22:00Simple said: YES - after your ships fought those of your opponent all remaining attackers deal their damage against the starbase. You don't have to kill all defenders before that.
To find an explanation for that... well during battle all those ships are maneuvering around, trying to achieve superior positions and shoot down their targets. During the result step the remaining attackers managed to break through the enemy lines and unload their destruction upon that starbase tower. That is what I like to think about for battles in EVE - maybe because I have all those Online-Fights in mind while playing the CCG Nothing is as simple as it looks.

Re:Attacking Home Regions - 2007/09/05 06:38Note also that you do not "target" the station per se. During Targeting step, the only thing you may target is opposing ships in the same region. It is true that any attacking ships which survive the targeting and damage steps will then automatically inflict their Attack damage on any defending starbase in the region.-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules!
