The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/05 20:33A revamp of the revamp of the revamp of one of my favorite decks. Exiled added Serpentis Bootlegger, Acceleration Gate, and the surprisingly handy Vespas Minimala to my arsenal, but but main thrust of the deck remains the same.
Once again, this is a multiplayer deck intended to function passably well in single player. Advice for either arena would be more than welcome.
Card Manipulation: 4x Information at a Price 4x Black Market 2x Vespas Minimala
Utility: 2x Acceleration Gate 2x Power Shortage 2x Security Breach
Any and all comments appreciated! C'mon, folks, let's get this particular chunk of the forum up and running again.

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/06 00:15I expect to see Bootlegger showing up all over the place. It's a sweet ship.
I am intrigued by your method of organizing your deck for presentation. Most people provide the list sorted by card type, but your method has a lot to recommend it.
Your income looks a bit shakey. Star Chart + Scordite is a strong opening, but it leads to some really annoying draws when you don't pull the combo.-Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules! We're playing Monday evenings in IL, see www.games-plus.com for the address or email me at ryuteki AT gmail DOT com.

Which is the number-one use for Black Market. On the recommendation of a friend (Bombadidaloo), I put it in there to even out my draws... and never looked back since. I've got sixteen cost-one cards in the deck, and if I find I don't pull star chart-scordite, I use Black Market to force the issue. The card disadvantage sucks some, but I can always translate extra money into more cards via skipping the income step- an equation that does not work in the other direction. I've gotten some amazingly consistent starts with it.
It also lets me shuffle one utility card for another (the sideboard will feature Martial Law and Institute of bureaucracy to swap for Info at a cost... or visa-versa) or switch out one warship for a preferable one (Cormorant and Bootlegger, Thrasher and Blackbird). Caldari only, but MAN it helps.
Bootlegger does indeed rock, though I personally prefer Blackbird (of course, I'm playing both...).
Any holes you can see, or cards you think would be good additions?

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/06 11:14I'd probably drop 4 warships for Mind Controls. Having your opponent Mind Control your Black Market is awful unless you've got your own Mind Control to protect it.
With Vepas and Information helping cycle cards you should find 16 warships are enough. Nice as the destroyers are, I don't think you'll see enough frigates to justify running 12 when there are some really nice cruisers in Exiled.

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/06 11:59You're right about the Mind Control; I really should have some in there already, but my current environment is a little ship-heavy.
You're right about Vespas + Info + Black Market + Bantam getting me through my deck quickly. I suppose I can go down to 16 or 17 warships... Which destroyers do you think I should drop? A selection of all three, or one entire set?
I'm leaning towards cutting Thrasher down to 2, but that kinda leaves me hanging about the other two... Coercer fills a very handy 6-isk slot, and Cormorant is just a beast.

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/07 05:50I would drop 4 Thrashers. It's 8 ISK cost blows; it only helps against scouts/frigates, and if you have the ISK to blow that much damage out, why not just play another ship to put your enemy in kill-range. With 4 Blackbird and 4 Coercer, you already have 8 ways of sticking your tongue out at frigate builds; and Coercer really fills that role the best at 6 ISK. Although Blackbird is 8 ISK, it allows you to handle everything. Thrasher does not.
For single-player matches, I'd ditch Security Breach. It is card disadvantage, and you are already dealing with card disadvantage through Black Market. I'd drop these for two more Vespas Minimala. You want to get him early, and when you draw extra copies, you can easily just pitch them to the first one you played. OR use his nasty ability to make someone go *poof*

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/07 10:30If your not running any Target Jam ships it's worth running 1-2 Thrashers to deal with Ambush and Patrol frigates (Kestrals and Blood Fugitives are equally nasty).
I'd look at what ships are coming in before deciding which to take out as you need to keep the fleet balanced. The Bootlegger isn't the only viable Serpentis ship...

Re:The Destroyer, v3.1 - 2007/09/09 16:39Hrm... have you thought about trying Stubborn Mechanic? Saving a destroyer with it is better than saving a frigate :-P Also it's another 1 ISK card to fetch for/pitch away with Black Market! You know, even including just ONE in the deck could be quite interesting:
Me: "Remnant that Blackbird for 5!" You: "Black Market away a Scordite, get and cast STUBBORN MECHANIC *MUAHAHAHAH*!!!"

Oooh. Yanno, I might just do that. I do seem to end up with Black Markets and the like hanging around after a while...
Though the specific use you're describing wouldn't work. By the time the Black Market resolved, there would be no further chance to respond to the Remnant.
