Re:Promo Card - 2007/09/09 01:52<soapbox> This is exactly the sort of thing I've been griping about lately. If people had known about this promo card, they would have been all over their stores to get the demo kit. Heck, is most of the names in this thread didn't even know it existed, that's REALLY bad.
This would have been a great way to generate excitement for the release, which was sorely lacking. </soapbox>
If these were sent as promos for the prerelease, is it even still possible for us to get them?

I know I haven't posted here much (though I have been around reading things, etc for some time now),
However I didn't even know "prerelease kit orders" existed, nor how to order them (is it through the normal distributors, or was it through here somehow directly, what were their costs, were there different sizes of kits, etc etc etc).
Most likely I could have gotten together a dozen-ish+ people easy for the event (I would have been happy to put it on) if I had known of its existence.
I'm really not trying to complain or anything, I just want to see this game succede and I think little things like cards we could use for prizes, or for showing up at event XYZ would be really nice for publicity and community building.
AgentZero, will there be a way for any of us here to get those (or other) promotional materials for use in events?
Could we perhaps sign up to be agents of some sort and run small events locally with said promotional materials?
Does any of this make sense to anyone else? Or am I just babbling nonsense here?
*If we already can do some or all of these things (aside from the 'Agent Resources' demo decks), could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks =)

Re:Promo Card - 2007/09/09 06:11hmmm... I just read the "The Exiled: How to Get Involved" and the "Rewards for Agents at conventions" yep... that helped me a bit lol.
I don't know why I never noticed those before.... oh well =) I still would like to know if it is possible to find some of these cards (or other like materials) for use in the events, etc
And I still have a few questions on how everything works, but I will bring that topic up in the proper forum/thread tomorrow =)

Re:Promo Card - 2007/09/09 13:39Somebody got quite a few of them, as well as another promo called "Arih's Manor" that I have not seen or heard about before:
He's selling multiple lots w/ 20 of each promo card + 2 booster boxes, 1 Core + 1 Exiled.
On a completely unrelated note, I'll have some new promo cards to trade soon I hope ...
I'll also echo the sentiments above; better communication about these being out and about may have helped pull more folks into pre-release events, even if it would have been mostly people already into the game. If I had been able to find a pre-release event around me I would have tried to drag some other uber obsessive Eve gamers along to check it out, an knowledge of free cool swag like these cards would have helped.
Edit: Link not working right

Re:Promo Card - 2007/09/09 15:23You know, Bomb - just shut up. If you have a valid response, make it. If all you have is a bunch of baseless idiocy, then stay out of the damn conversation.
If you really think that the best result to come out of this is that some eBay'er is selling these off in lots of 20, then step up and defend the handling. Otherwise, you've got absolutely nothing to contribute to anything.
If RYUTEKI of all people hasn't seen this card, and doesn't seem to know about it, something is deeply wrong with the way it was handled.

Actually, this time I agree with Buhallin. Not mentioning it was bad form.

Aww there there Buhally *hug*
You're a good guy at heart, maybe, but I am far from fine with they way in which you choose to comment for most of your posts. There are far less 'depressing' ways to complain about something; you're making everything too personal. Of course you have the freedom to comment however you damn well choose, so I in turn feel the need to reply in a similar manner (on the opposite end of the spectrum to balance things out )
Lets look at this comment of yours in another thread: "Now that's the sort of warm fuzzy I've been looking for I'm still highly disappointed at the lack of push surrounding Exiled, but my fears had a lot more to do with a complete loss of interest in the game by the producer, which would mean soon no game and me sitting with several hundred dollars worth of useless cards (again). Straight talk always counts for a lot, but with a small game like this the connection to the players is even more important.
Thanks, Zack."
This is really the only 'positive' comment I have ever seen you post. But just look at it- it still has complaining! However, this is the sort of comment I'd at least like to see from you on a more regular basis, as it would be a drastic improvement from your current tendencies. I don't like sounding like a 'moral coach', but Buhallin, I know I speak for a lot of us when I say that we'd really love to see you lighten up. We know you care about the game. But do you care about the community? Right now, you may be trying to help it in one way, but you're certainly not in another way.

I really don't care if you dislike my complaining. If you can refute it, ANY of it, please do. So far, I can't remember a single point you've made that contributed anything to any of the discussions I've been in. You can't deal with the message, so you attack the messenger.
If you dislike complaints, remove the cause for them. If you haven't found anything positive from me, you haven't gone back far enough. I've been on this forum since the day it opened, and I've spent my time positive. I've voiced concern with issues when the issues caused concern - lately there have been a lot of issues which caused concern. You want positive? Find something to be positive about. So far, the closest you've gotten is lauding the quality of a set that has been out for less than a week, already has at least half a dozen errata coming, and completely abandoned the concept of consistent terminology. So I guess I should qualify that I expect your positive thoughts to have some foundation to them, and not just hope.
Since you seem incapable of actually contributing to discussions, I'm asking you to stay out of them. If you have issues with me on a personal level, they belong in PMs, not sniping responses to everything I say. The hypocrisy of sniping at anyone who disagrees with you while claiming to support the community is overwhelming.
A promo card is not just a reward for people showing up - it's meant to generate excitement and get people to show up. The prerelease events were hard to keep up with, because of the delays. The last post in the thread over there was almost two months before the actual release. The ball was, quite clearly, dropped with the prerelease stuff even before you factor in the promos. The promos themselves should have been posted as Card Spotlights very early on - Veldspar has been sitting there for more than a month now, don't you think these would have done a bit to help?
