Damage-fest - 2007/09/06 21:43Ok well i'm not getting that many games in ATM so it's difficult to get a feel for my crazy deck ideas. Here's one that really focuses on direct damage over anything else:
Adaster's Disaster x4 Martial Law x4 Insurance Fraud x4 Remnant of Vak'Tioth x4
It's clearly a bit all-or-nothing but it could be fun! Thoughts people...?

Re:Damage-fest - 2007/09/07 06:33I'd run 4 Mind Control maindecked for various reasons: -Stops enemy news that buffs their ships, thus countering your direct damage. ex: Stubborn Mechanic -Destroys your own Remnant before your opponent gets to draw two cards. A nice use if you've got nothing better to do with it. -And of course it's nice to have it for those random news cards that really ruin your day. ex: Lost Deliveries
You're running 4x Insurance Fraud. This card is highly abusable by the following additions: 4 Stabber Frailty Tower instead of Liberty Tower (with all the anti-ship stuff, you don't really need to worry about your shield ) And you're already running the 4 Angel Silencer
Which brings me to the next potential addition, one of my favorite cards in the new set: Tuvan Orth. A few reasons to run him:
While piloting Stabber or Angel Silencer, his ability "Orth's ship gains: "At the beginning of a withdraw step, this ship may deal 1 damage to target enemy ship."" will double from 1 to 2 damage, and that's at the BEGINNING of the withdraw step. Offensive Ambush, anyone? And with the addition of Frailty Tower, that doubles again to 4 damage.
When docked in your starbase, his agent ability "X: Draw a card, where X is your total starbase shield." becomes "Pay 5: Draw a card" when you flip your Frailty Tower. I'd personally run 4x Night Shift Sector and Repair Outpost as a backup to fully abuse this ability. With the ISK you can gain from Insurance Fraud, it essentially becomes the ability for you to win the game, easily.
Now about that location build: You're running 4 Sancha Scout Outpost. Ok, great card. What will you do when you draw multiple copies? Play them into outer regions that you take, of course. Splendid. However, you're running 4 Tourist Resorts as well. Which give you less ISK if you control outer regions. So you see how these two cards can contradict each other? Also, all your locations are limited.
I'd suggest either dropping 2 Sancha Scout Outpost, or dropping the Tourist Resorts. I'd personally do the following: -4 Tourist Resort +4 Echoes of Gloom Bay
Let's face it, you're most likely going to control all 3 of your outer regions and however many your opponent plays. This turns Echoes of Gloom Bay into incredible card advantage. And don't forget you'll be gaining ISK from those outer regions themselves as well.
Hope the suggestions help!

Re:Damage-fest - 2007/09/07 16:09why did you use Manmon Aralila instead of Brynn Jerdola which seems more influent?
do you have a strategy, i guess?
i did it quite different.
i use 2x Hakim Stormare + 2x Ahremen Arkah which is useful to avoid angel raider's deaths and similars.
i did it differently, but the idea itself is nice!

Re:Damage-fest - 2007/09/08 10:45Brynn doesn't really provide the same flexibility as Mammon or Tuvan. Bombadidaloo is right though that Tuvan's abilities are better. However he does cost 3 ISK, which may be a bit of an issue in keeping the deck fast enough.
The Tourist Resorts can go too, but I'm more in favour of Intersteller Trading Post than Echoes of Gloom Bay. The Martial Laws should take care of news though, and given what the deck is trying to do there isn't really any room for anything else. I would play Stabber perhaps if I had more than one of them
And BTW Liberty Tower is to get my ships back at the right time, not for the shield value

Interstellar Trading Post is nice too! I'd still run Mind Control over Martial Law, simply because you can also use them to deny your opponent the "Draw 2 cards" from Remnant.
I guess I'd hold off on Frailty Tower until you're able to get your hands on some more Stabbers (I have 3 for trade *cough*seetradeforum*cough* ), though the increased ISK it provides not only by itself but through Insurance Fraud is IMO more than worth it.
