Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/08 21:59I'm a big fan of the new method of torture cards, and so I built a deck based vaguely around the Gallante method card. The central theme to the deck is to rob your opponent of as much isk as possible, while making everything he does cost more. The plan is to bankrupt him so he can't defend himself untill a Brutix or two makes it onto the table. In order to absorb the losses from returning torture methods, almost every single ship produces income one way or another. I've play tested the deck a bit, and so far its my favorite deck of all the types I've tried.
Enthrallment Tower
The Khanid Kingdom Serpentis Prime The Bleak Lands
Its a challenging deck to play since you have to keep the Isk pressure on your opponent throughout the game. But if you can keep them locked down, once they have an unrest or two on them, and no isk to return it, the game is pretty much over.

Re:Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/09 05:09Very interesting... quite a ship-shape deck you've got. You're relying heavily on Brutix, but every deck leans a bit on one card or another.
Unless you want to drive the theme into the ground, however, I'd play Damage Control instead of Announcement. It's just plain more reliable, and can yank Torture back to your hand if your opponent lets it tick quietly away instead of handing it back.
Also, I've never seen anything good come out of Navitas. Try Tristan or Serpentis Protector instead. Serpentis Bodyguard needs Mastermind to make it really roll- drop it into Serpentis Prime for cheap, and Mastermind that annoying can't-go-anywhere drawback away. Also good for Imicus!
Finally, consider Dark Ochre instead of Gneiss. Not limited, so you can drop two at once if you have them... and it means that the only location your opponent can steal from you and use against you is Slave Mines.
But really, that's mostly just card choice. Run it both ways, against a variety of decks, and see how it does! It's defiantly not a deck I'd want to run into unprepared.

Re:Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/09 16:00Dissassemble could be an interesting addition; end of their turn you pop their frigate, they gain 2-4 ISK, then you drop a torture and make them lose it on the beginning of your turn.
I'd replace Ill-Conceived Announcement with Damage Control as well. RedX has a good point (well, many )- it lets you reuse the torture.
Also, I think Serpentis Bodyguard needs to go... without a way to accelerate him, he's not that reliable You have some other interesting options, like Serpentis Pusher and that sexy Serpentis Runner!

Re:Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/09 21:47I do have to disagree about the Navitas...it helped me so much at Gencon. Dark-Ochre seems like a really good choice. I've played against this a number of times...works really well.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist

Re:Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/12 12:12I tried a diffrent version of this last night, but using Stain and Dominion Tower, and that news card that makes every one warp out a regoin.
Unfort, after 10+ turns I still didn't have a ship in game, so I couldn't play stain, but I managed to keep my opponent out of his regoins for quite a while.
I like the idea of the deck and I'm def gonna do some tweaking.
Will post it up once I get it tweaked some more.

24 ships... and not one got into play? Was this a resouces problem, or did you just not draw the ships?
Think about playing a few more games before tweaking it much. One string of bad luck makes for a poor selection of deck experience.

Not 100% sure how many ships I had, but it was in that regoin, but yeah, just didn't draw any till later in the game.

Re:Isk Control Deck - 2007/09/12 18:48The Serpentis spy helps with the whole Isk control thingy...it works quite nice. I've been trying to get him to put Dismantle in the deck...I think it would work well.Blatherskite Caldari Propagandist
