Let's see who's online! - 2006/11/10 00:25One of my favorite features on a forum is the ability to see who is surfing at the same time I am. I'm sure this forum has that feature, just not on.

Re:Let's see who's online! - 2006/11/10 06:55That's a fairly standard and usefull feature but it may fall down once the community grows beyond a certain point as it may have issues sticking 50 names on the online list. But in the meantime, it would be nice. Or a way to see only when your contacts are online may be simpler and just as usefull

There is a function to PM people and email them. If they are online then it may be worthwhile waiting around for a response or checking in 10mins.
General curiosity and traffic recording are also good reasons.

To help foster the sense of "community" (i.e. you dont feel like you're the only person online) I think it would be great to be able to see how many peeps are actually logged onto the site and/or a wee display to see the daily server load compared to previous days etc, like what they have over on the EVE-O site.

Onyx' proposals would be really nice to have. Just the buddy list isn't enough, because i cant add all people
And on a more general rant i would not have choosen Joomla at all, with 1000s of users in mind for the future ... but that's just me.
