Re:First deck ideas? - 2007/10/05 17:55Very, very good deck for a first shot. Tight, with an admirable focus- good ship selection, with only a few "support" ships (ships that don't contribute directly to killing the opponent). News selection's not so good (see below). I've got just a few pointers...
First, money issues. Scordite can almost pull this off by its lonesome... if you have something to toss to it, and something to mine it. Consider dropping the Sublet Stations (one of these just isn't enough money, and it pretty much negates everything else you play) for another two Star Charts. Also consider some other, non-limited locations to keep Scordite fed.
Second, ship selection. Pretty much spot-on, actually- might consider Merlin as a main-line hitter, though. It's common, no-frills, and cheap for the firepower it provides. Crucifier is also nice, so long as you're not fixated on Central Fleet Command providing a bonus to everybody.
News... well, please check the icons on the side left side of the card's picture. They indicate which factions can play that card. Slave-dogs, Veteran's, Remnant, Manufacturing Error, and Hired Enforcers are all illegal in a Caldari deck. I'd put in another Mind Control, another Information and Black Market if you have them, and try out Ship Computer Glitch.
Aside from that one caveat, a tight deck. I wish you luck with it... welcome to (IMO) the best CCG around these days.

Thanks a bunch for the deck crit! And EVE is definitely the best CCG around at the moment.

I'll drop the 2x Sublet Stations and 1x Scordite and slip in 3x veld, maybe? maybe drop 2x scordite and add 4x veld? I don't have another two star charts
I'll consider Merlin, gonna play a few games with my roomate though before I go making ship changes. What do you think about the 3x badger, 1x badger mk II? Waste of deck or great money generator? Would it be better to add harder hitting ships in their stead?
As for the news cards, ROFL: I cant believe I forgot to check the race icons. Man I feel retarded. Thanks for catching that, I'll rework my News as well. I'll replace the slave-dogs with 4x ship computer glitch, and add an Information. I wish I had another Black Market to add, or two, or three

Re:First deck ideas? - 2007/10/07 06:13I'm not a fan of Veldspar. It's cheap, sure, but aside from that it doesn't do enough. Consider Echoes of Gloom Bay. or Tourist Resort, or Interstellar trade post. If either of the last two earn you even 2 extra ISK, they've outshown Veldspar for the game. Echoes of Gloom Bay can net you a card or two, making it especially handy late-game when all you want is that extra ship/news/whatever, and don't care about losing 1 ISK a turn.
Badger... not my favorite. In some decks, the Badger team can make for a score of ISK in a turn, but those decks lean on mining an outer region (usually with Arkonor). I'd rather have something that can hit my opponent over the head in a pinch.
Don't worry about the news mix-up. I've been playing for quite a while and I still sometimes smack my head and realize the card that's been in my deck for several games isn't actually legal.
