Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/16 15:21So maybe that title’s a bit too dramatic, but I’m excited by the plans we’ve cooked up for the end of this year, and the whole of the next: league play. I’ve been given a directive to prove a play model before we implement it next year. I have drawn up a model that looks good, but I need help testing out the fine details, and I thought the coming two months would be perfect for it.
I need as many 8+ player groups as possible to nominate an organizer and have them contact me in the next week (Note: one person doesn’t have to organize everything for the whole two months, I’d just like to speak with only one rep per group at first). After I have a list of all groups participating, I will contact the initial organizers and fill them in on the details of the events they are to run. Everyone will be asked to run at least three sanctioned tournaments before the end of the year, and in return will receive some new, heftier prize support, including a copy of the Art of EVE. The details (format, exact prizes, etc.) will vary from group to group, but these things will remain as constants. After the results of the final event have been processed, I will be able to use the data to sell my bosses on the best support for the community in the coming year. The more people who participate, the more accurately my data will reflect the community as a whole, so if you think your local group can commit to three 8+ player events in the next two months, please contact me.
To recap:
What I need: • Any 8+ player groups to contact me through a representative (zackATccpgamesDOTcom) • Commitment to three sanctioned events before the end of the year • Accurate and on-time reporting of the events
What you get: • A chance to play ESG regularly • New and expanded prizes • A say in shaping the league play for next yearZack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/16 19:25Ditto the above. I haven't heard of any playgroups in the UK that have managed to scrape 8 or more regular players, but I'm willing to organise and/or send in my comments.

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/16 19:31I'm willing to wrangle support if you're able to commit to the number of events. The big prize for the winner (Art of EVE) may be out of the question, though.
EDIT: I'll bring it up with my boss in a meeting this afternoon, actually.

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/17 07:06How flexible could the date of events be, and do we need a fixed location for those, like a store, or can it vary (like a pub once, someone's home and then some another pub in another city)? My playgroup is about 9-10 ppl but we are scattered across the country so it's not an easy thing for us to get together in one place, but we'll try to manage

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/17 15:33Spoke with the boss yesterday, and he was also of the opinion that we could reduce the minimum attendance required at the events. We will only require 5 players per event, now. Support for these groups will not change.

The specific dates of events are up to the individual groups, but all events must be completed, and have their results submitted to me, by the end of December. I'd recommend holding one every two weeks.
As for location, these are considered sanctioned events, and would therefore have to be held at a sanctioned location. I understand the limitations on space in game shops, especially in Europe, so game clubs are also acceptable. Remember that this is a trial run to show how effective public league play can be, so it does us no good to hide the events away in someone's house.Zack Walters EVE: The Second Genesis Organized Play Coordinator White Wolf | CCP North America

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/18 20:57I would love to be a part of this, but with some upcoming RL issues hitting me (getting hitched!), I seriously doubt I can organize anything myself. Hopefully something can get set up soon for the Phoenix, AZ area...I would be a regular player for sure.

Re:Be a Part of the Future, Today! - 2007/10/24 17:03I could manage a 5..6 regular player base. I have place (store), connections (one of players is store manager) - where I should sign?
