Why is this combo for Caldary? Because my favourite card from Core Set is Black Market. It's great "hand recycling" card. For another factions presense of all combo contents in starting hand is unlikely. Effect of this combo is amazing. Especial, if 1st turn of the game is yours. In this case you crush opponent's efforts to build ISK engine quickly.
Star Chart Enterprises, 1, ACGM (Core Set - 57C), Location > Station, +0, 0 When Star Chart Enterprises comes into play, choose an opponent. When that opponent plays a location you gain 1 ISK. If this card goes on the scrapheap from play, gain 3 ISK.
Scordite, 1, ACGM (Core Set - 54C), Location > Asteroid Field, +2, 2 When Scordite comes into play, sacrifice a location. Scordite can be mined by two ships at a time. Limited.
Sentinel Hive, 3, ACGM (Core Set - 94U), Starbase Structure , +0, +1 Locations cannot be played in home regions.
Black Market, 0, C (Core Set - 182R), News, 0 In addition to Black Market's price, choose and discard a card. Search your market for a card with printed price equal to that of the discarded card and place it in your hand. Then shuffle your market.Say what you think. Think what you say.

Re:Star Chart Enterprises + Scordite + Sentinel Hi - 2008/01/06 21:36A powerful, dangerous combination... IF you get the first turn, and if you get all three cards in your hand (or some combination allowing for Black Market to GET you the three cards).
Even with 4x Black Market in my Destroyer deck, I sometimes find it a stretch to get just Star Chart + Scordite out. Add in the fact that Sentinel Hive is utterly useless in multiple copies, that it's a pointless late-game draw, and that it also stops you from playing another location (like Sansha's Scout Outpost)...
Therefore, I'd personally have to place this under the category of "Perfect if it works, useless if it doesn't".
Not a combo I'd like to match up against, of course. Some of my decks would slide right around it, some others would die horribly. I wish you the best of luck pulling it off, and recommend plenty of other 1- and 3-cost cards to use with Black Market.
P.S. Watch out for Mind Control. It does a number on Black Market. Might want to pack a few yourself, so you can try to come out on top of a Mind Control war.

Specially, if deck contained some 3-cost ships or other structures for Black Market's exchange. What about all needed card draw's chance, what can I say? I can't found another supporting this combo cards. Another locations are playing to outer regions.

This is partly because of the consistancy issues RedX refers to but also because you opponent can still play: ..An outer region, Crokite and a Scout ship ..By The Emperor's Royal decree (ideally for sublet station) ..An Inferior Iteron and outer region (on turn 2) ..Mind Control on your Black Market to stop you getting the lock in place.
These are all popular plays and make the investment in Sentinel Hive look a bit risky but it might be worth it just for the look on your opponent's face when it does work.

The deck's presumably running Mind Control (to protect Black Market from Mind Control) so we're looking at:
4 Star Chart 4 Scordite 4 Sentinel Hive 4 Blook Pillager 4 Mind Control 4 Black Market
I guess you could switch half of those into the sideboard when you're going 2nd (game 2 or 3) but I don't think we've solved the consistancy issues.
