I assure you, the game isn't dead, and it's market is still expanding. I'm sorry I haven't shared our upcoming plans with you, but my thoughts and energy have been commandeered for use on another title.

Any news would be good, regardless the topic. Without news noone gets the feeling that things are done, even if only behind the scenes. Looking foreward to monday Maybe a little diary? Even if you write "i packed boxes for distribution all day" or "paperwork is eating up my time" or whatever, but this would add some kind of living feeling to the site, to see people working on and for the game.

Anything would be good, as it stands the game "feels" abandoned while you may well be all working hard, it will all be for nothing if you suddenly come back to an empty room to announce your latest expansion. The fact that this post went unanswered for several weeks is not a help.

Please inform your superiors that pulling the ONLY official representative from a game to work on a different game, is seen by the players as identical to "letting the game die." Unlike the EVE MMO (and many RPGs), CCGs do not flourish in a vacuum. They wither and die through stagnation and lack of opponents. Any play group with less than 6 players is unhealthily close to death, and most comments I've seen here are indicating 1-to-4-player groups.

No. What you need to be doing at minimum is having an official rep post at LEAST once a week in the rules forums on any thread that has generated dispute. Don't worry that it's just going to be dropped without any lead-up, though. The gist of the current plan is to take the suggestions you guys have been making here (they are both good and legion) and apply them to the game as a whole. While Development deals with the mechanics side of the equation, Marketing will continue to build player momentum through league play (which is, coincidentally, what I'll be announcing on Monday).

My current assignments are the product of manpower issues within the department. Marketing was not one of the first departments to get executive-level attention after the merger, but we're certainly getting it now. In fact, Ryan Dancey was just brought on board as my new boss. I've wondered about the League - past the announcement and a few questions, there's been next to nothing about it here. The Events page of the site is currently empty. There's not a single declaration of an actual league event in the forum. I honestly thought the league was a total flop.
How many league groups actually managed to get going? Do we know how many games they played on average? Please, share!
