Re:caldari fleet draw - 2006/11/13 13:51I'd say you need to do a lot more work on focusing your deck.
Firstly, you concept - drawing cards and getting more ships than your opponent - won't work properly, because only 19 of your ships are combat worthy, and your deck is very large. Most military decks run large numbers numbers of ships (20-28 in a 52 card deck), so you'll be using your draw just to try and keep up with their ship numbers, you almost certainly wont be out-shipping them.
Secondly, you have a *lot* of starbase structures, some of which you should probably look at removing for other stuff I'll mention in a minute. Sentry Guns in particular are pretty bad against everyone but Minmatar, and the Databank is generally just bad. If you ever have more than your max hand size in cards, it means you arent playing cards and have probably lost the game already
Third, your locations need a bit of a tweak. You should never run anything less than 8 home regions playable locations, and 12 is always pretty awesome. Your deck is only splashing a tiny bit of mining, so to be honest I'd remove the odd Arkonor, and drop your mining ships, to free up room for more focus. If you draw that Arkonor instead of Dam Torsading it into play, you really dont want to be paying that 5 ISK.
There's a lot you could do to focus your deck up a bit (I guess you may still be missing some cards for that though). As well as some of the above suggestions, you definitely want to drop your deck from 61 to 52.

Re:caldari fleet draw - 2006/11/15 06:39thanks for the help i agree that i need to do a bit of focussing, especially the sentry guns, prolly some of the emp fields as well, maybe no mining, but striaght isk, it seemed to work well the last game i played.
im still abit iffy on removing the databank, early game its good if you have alot of card draw, and not alot of isk(but i suppose cheaper ships work better)
i was mostly looking for a way to get some good beefeaters(caracal, moa, raven) out in play and use them to thier advantacge, thus im working on replacing the sentries and EMP fields with early warning systems.
my locations need work as well, maybe some veldspar(ive noticesd that w/o an interstellar TD my deck seems to whither pretty fast) ill be working on it this weekend, afetr some more playtesting. the idea of focussing your location in your home region is strong depending on if your playing VS galente(one of thier towers denies you any isk from your home region)
also i prolly missstated the purpose of the deck, at the time it was "impress the other players with the moa and caracal, then look at the ambush" i suppose for more ships, tons o frigates works well too....

Only if you control an outer region.
Also, unless you have haste or some serious speed defence (maybe if you work in minefields well etc), your 'beef' would be better served as destroyers like the Cormorant - they're as big as cruisers, but assembly 1, and cheaper.

Re:caldari fleet draw - 2006/11/15 07:45Regarding the Ferox, it is a nice ship but its full potential will only be available in a caldari hand control imho. Rather go with destroyers and blackbirds (assembly 1 and good features).
