Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/15 17:13How large is a large demand? How many players do you have looking for cards who can't get them?
Out of stock isn't necessarily the same as a large demand. It's quite likely that the number of cards available to the Russian market was very limited to begin with.
In just a few minutes of searching, I found five different sites selling booster boxes for EVE. Any shortage of cards looks to be more about regional issues than it is about people wanting cards. Which - don't get me wrong - sucks for you, but is unlikely to motivate a reprint of the Core Set.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/23 08:31What impact do You think will make the online version of EVE CCG with it's own software and integration it into the EVE online?
I played M:TG online and this version is extremely popular. And there is also russian ccg - Berserk - it has online realistion from the first set and it's also very popular - a lot of players play it because they have no place to play face-to-face or don't want to go out.
I think online software for EVE online with store and tournaments will revitilize the game and make it much more popular.
And there is also positive example - Legends of Norrath - this ccg is integratid into Everquest 2 online game.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/23 09:25I hope that we can get a reprint of the basic set because I am slowly drawing people into the EVE-CCG, and my store is getting a demand for the base set from these new players.http://www.gamers.uk.net

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/23 14:07An online version might improve things, especially if they could manage to get it in front of EVE-O players.
Here's the problem, though: The game NEEDS to be revitalized. If you were having to make a business decision, where where would you put your software resources? Into a game which has already basically failed, or into some new venture like, say, a highly-anticipated World of Darkness MMO?
I know what is involved in writing something like you suggest - I've done it. It's a major undertaking which would be, IMHO, very hard to justify given the current state of the game.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/23 16:28An official Online Client to play EVE-TSG with would be very tricky to do.
For one, it's a lot of work and it would have a lot of competition for existing programs like OCTGN, Archanist, etc... Those programs would also most likely thwart any attempt on a commercial client with paid virtual cards. And a non commercial version would have to be very very good to compete with existing programs posing the question if the effort is even worth it...

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/23 17:40You didn't quite catch the idea. I ment the porramm like Magic Online. The software is free, but You can buy boosters inside and starters and also a lot of tourmnaments can be holded becase it's all automated.

Why would I play with an official online WW version which requires me to buy random packs and maintain a collection, when I could use something like Arcanist or OCTGN which allows me to pick whatever cards I want to use, entirely without cost?
An official online version would have to provide substantial value added over the free options. If it fully implemented the rules this would be possible to do, but a LOT of work.
Here's my cynical(er) side coming out, though... White Wolf hasn't been willing to devote a single full-time employee to promotion of this game, even during the early days when hope was boundless and free and the future was bright. Implementing TableTalk took me about 7-8 months of development time, and that was for a system which wasn't flashy and provided minimal game rule support. You'd probably be looking at a team of 4-5 developers for six months to a year for initial development, plus ongoing maintenance as new sets were released (being optimistic here).
So, to be blunt, what makes you think CCP/WW has even a tenth that much interest in this game? You're talking about ten times the manpower, all of which would probably make considerably more than Zack did (sorry, man), for the next year or more. Given the CONSIDERABLE number of things they could have done with that single person and chose not to, what makes you think they'll be willing to start investing 10 to 20 times that much?
And honestly, if they DO decide to increase support by a factor of 20 (which would technically still be zero ), I think there are far, FAR better places to put it than an online client.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/24 01:58The reason MTGO is viable is due to it's competitions & prize support.
To play in a draft or league you must buy sealed product, plus an entry fee. This makes money, because you have to buy sealed product. Playing in these competitions results in more packs as prizes, so there is a reason to play in these competitions.
Eve does not have a big enough player base to support this. Also I think Buhallin's estimate of the resources required to make an official client are under estimated, There are a lot of factors that need to be added for an official product (egs, online store, prize support, administration tools, etc) that the free options don't require.
Also I did start work on a client that implemented the full rules set, I have a (very rough) idea how much work is involved, almost every card in EVE has a unique ability, that's a lot of unique code for each card, and each ability must be tested to interact with each other ability....it's a messy thing.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/24 03:30Yeah, Brootal's right - my estimates were focused entirely on nothing but the game client itself... All the support pieces would be at least as much work as the client, if not more.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/25 20:25One other data point on this that had escaped my memory...
When I was first starting development of TableTalk I asked Zack if they planned to do their own online version. It seemed a good possibility with CCP, and I didn't want to be stepping on their work. He assured me there were no plans for their own online client.
That was a while back, but I highly doubt the current state of the game has changed that stance.

Re:Development of EVE CCG - 2008/04/27 03:55White Wolf owns all rights to the cards , ask all "free" sites to cease offering thier "free" programs or be sued. But , Thats would have to be part of a well backed plan. I'm guessing White Wolf wanted these people to offer "free" games out there to promote intrest in thier product with 0 cost to them , but , as I informed AgentZero , There have been numerouse Major mistakes made. I'll be honest with you , I feel I'm the last great chance this game has , They really need to hire me , even if only at a Consultant level. I use to be an Area Manager for CapCom Arcade division and Play tested thier Arcade releases. When Purchasing Games for them , the games I selected Increased thier profits AND held thier value longer. I have Ran Major Tournaments before and know how to promote this game on so many levels. I see mistake after mistake and it's kiling me , becuase I could easily call this game my all time Favorite game , if it felt as if they cared about the game 1/4 as much as I do. I tried to contact WW before and Talked to AgentZero before , to no avail. I'm asking someone from or conected to this company to Contact me. I am or will be 100% available to help this game become the HIT it can be.

Bubblegum, mmmmm... Or Quafe Vouchers. Or docking permits for those Pleasure Hubs
haha qwesome ideas, or maybe I con't believe I'm saying this, ambulation content?
However i really like what wow does with the you get cards that are minerals and then you trade them into the company for cards, like your building them, that is kinda cool but eve might be a bit poor for that system
