EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6pm - 2008/05/15 19:31 Greetings true believers!
I was able to speak to Zack, and while he will not be part of the CCP/White-Wolf team that is attending Origins, we are working out the details so that I can run an EVE Tournament at the event.
I've already spoken to the Origins organizers, and they said that while it might be too late to be in the printed catalog of games, it is not too late to enter new events, and then be listed on the website for online registration. (They will get back to me about the catalog.)

Looking at times, once I get the final OK from Zack, I'm hoping to enter the event for a 1pm to 6pm slot in the main card hall.

While I've run events for the last two EVE leagues in northern Virginia, hopefully this will be a bit larger, and I'm going to be putting out a call for some volunteer judges to help me out with the event.
[Ideally, the judges would also be able to play in the event, but would not be able to rule on their own games should there be a call for a judge. More details to follow in that regard.]

Decks will be the standard min of 52 cards, with the option of having a 13 card sidebar. Matches will be one on one for 60 minutes in best out of three format. Cards from Core, Exiled, and the released promo cards will be allowed in play.

Feel free to ask any questions,

Thank you-

Chris

Good luck with the event-

It's a side deck in addition to your normal market cards (like in MtG). After the first round in the match, you can swap cards between your side deck and you market on a one for one basis. Between each match (i.e. before you face a new opponent) you must restore your market to its original state. Hope this helps...

All the very best with the tournie Chris!! Cheers for your efforts, and I truly hope you get a good turnout.

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/05/16 11:27 I wish I would could have read this before I registered for all of my games. Hopefully some of my group will be able to make it.

Good question:

From two different sources I have heard different things. From one, I have heard that it will probably be similar to last year's prize support; from someone else, perhaps it would be the norm, plus signed card sheets.

Other then the fact that we will have prize support; I haven't heard details of what it will be yet. I don't know if there will be new Promo cards that we have not seen, or not. That might be held for GenCon, not sure.

For the folks who played at Origins last year, (Since I didn't get on the wagon until GenCon07,) what was the prize support?

Chris

I knooow, I knooow. Ok- I admit that my question was not clear enough. But how come that you decided to adapt that old magic thing as afaik it's not implemented in the rules.

Cheers

Hey there Floi,

It's in the tournament rules, under section 2.2

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/05/28 19:29 Chris,

Thanks for your effort. I'm very interested in playing.

If you need help, send me a PM. I have been running events in Michigan for over a year.

It should be fun to finally have something organized that allows for Exile use.

It was booster packs. Generally I distributed one box of boosters per event, and two boxes of boosters plus some preview decks from the Exiled expansion for the main tournament. I also threw in some foils out of my collection to make things look pretty.

As you've guessed, I ran the Origins events last year, and co-judged the GenCon events. I don't think I'm going to be making it to Origins this year though.

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/05/30 14:41 I won the main event. I received a box of core, and some metal ISK along with a few Exile cards.

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/05/30 14:45 BTW, can everyone bring their trades?

I'm still working on masters and foil sets for both releases.

Hopefully with everyone's help I can finish.

Ah that's right, I forgot I threw in the ISK and made Zach replace them at GenCon. *grin*

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/06/13 14:48 I heard back that it looks like we will have some boxes of boosters, metal isk for the top 4, some promo-cards and foils, and perhaps a signed sheet of card images.
There may also be some more as surprises! (Hopefully only good surprises.)

Chris

PS> I also heard that we made it into the paper/printed catalog that gets handed out at the convention, which is cool.

Re:EVE Event at Origins 08, Saturday June 28th 1-6 - 2008/06/20 01:19 Do you think there will be any information about the future of Eve revealed at Origins?

I am on the fence about going to Origins because of gas prices; though having Eve there is a plus! I am a relatively new Eve player, but have played a good number of games and have a few strategies and deck concepts from the decklists.

It seems like interest is waning.

But I think the game is well designed, and worth playing with a group, even if the company support from CCP stinks.

[Some times I don't understand game companies, it seems like they put lots of money into game development, and once it's produced, they run off to the next thing. I think they could make more bucks by having some effort go into support.]
