mogul tower deck - 2008/07/29 10:43this is only my second deck ive made with a clear objective in mind, the first being an amarr deck. any opinions would be appreciated, (idealy i would throw in more copies of some of these cards but i dont have them yet.) TOWER- mogul tower
REGIONS- stain curse germinate/(was planning on ginnungapap but only had 2 crokite to combo with)
SHIPS- 2 velator 1 g despoiler 1 g nihilist 1 concord customs 1 g liquidator 1 moa 1 scorpion (wish i had another) 4 kestrel 4 g nullifier
NEWS- 4 information at cost 4 microwarp 4 mind control 2 terrorism 2 resourcefulness 1 slave dog stowaways 1 armageddon project 1 martial law 1 tairei namazoth 1 thon eney 1 hired enforcers
A couple of points first: I would suggest perhaps trying some 'normal' victory decks before going for the Mogul Tower alternate win. That way you'll be able to see the usual way the deck performs before trying out the complicated stuff (typically alt wins are very hard to pull off and require certain deck archetypes - if you are short on cards, it might be even more difficult for you!) Venal or Guristas Tower would be a better choice maybe...
Secondly, check your race restrictions - I'm pretty sure that cards like Armageddon Project and Hired Enforcers are not playable by Caldari.
The deck itself seems a bit light on ships - remember that ships are the LIFE-BLOOD of your deck generally. I would drop the Velators, the Moa and the Scorpion though, and maybe replace them with any of the Destroyer-class vessels that Caldari can play. And cheap, effective ships like Crucifier and Executioner and others until you have at least 20 ships.
The News component is a bit unfocused, as are the locations and starbase structures. You need to get a good income curve going, so maybe explore combo's like Scordite and Star Chart Enterprises (very cool), or Sansha's Scout Outpost and By The Emperor's Decree. Your choice of Outer Regions can influence your Home Region income too. If you're aiming to control a lot of Outers, maybe add in a few Interstellar Trade posts. Or else, play Outers like Cloud Ring and Eve Gate (where no-one ever wants to go), then capitalise on this with Tourist Resort. Whatever you do, you need a solid income or else you're beat.
I would drop all the 'single' and double (x1 and x2) news except for the Martial Law (game winner when played right!). I would drop the characters too until you have a few more of them.
Sorry if this is very "wooley" but im just trying to give a general overview, and it's no fun if someone builds your deck for ya!!
Finally, if you havent already you should check out some of the articles on the site, especially the first one by Calmdown. He goes into great detail with all the aspects you should be thinking about during deck building, as well as giving the typical proportions of the card types in a good deck.

Re:mogul tower deck - 2008/07/30 03:29thanks for those tips. i went through and checked all the race restrictions & replaced a few cards. i dont have that many caldari destroyers though so i put in 4 condors and a cormerant. also put in 2 more concord regional hq's, and a power shortage to replace the slave dog stowaways. also replaced 2 velators with 4 g invaders. i have played a fair few games but only with a deck opting for a "normal" win. this is only my second deck ive made with an alternate win as the goal. wat is the star chart + scordite combo? i dont get it? they dont seem to complement each other like GGap and crokite or anything, so am i missing something in the rules?

Re:mogul tower deck - 2008/07/30 06:43SCE+Scordite is one of the nicest opening combos there is... 1. Play Starchart Enterprises: -1 ISK. 2. Play Scordite: -1 ISK. 3. Scordite requires you to sacrifice a location so you kill Starchart. 4. When Starchart leaves play you get 3 ISK. 5. Optionally you drop a velator or similar for some immediate scordite mining 6. PROFIT....

Re:mogul tower deck - 2008/07/30 09:19Incidentally, Crokite and Ginnugagap arent a valid combo, since once a location gets put into G'gap it stays there and cant be removed. Dam Torsad and Crokite might work better. Or what about G'gap and Sublet Station = PROFIT!!============================ "There is always Hope...." - Elessar Telcontar ============================
