fast attack deck - 2008/08/06 00:01 ive decided that since the mogul deck might be a bit advanced for me i might try maximising the caldari draw cards and make a fast attack deck, no doubt this has been done before so could anyone suply some good combo ideas? (while i would like to use the scordite + star chart im using those in my amarr deck.)

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/06 13:36 The key to getting ships put fast with Caldari is to use Info At A Cost and Advanced Shipyard. Venal Tower also heps maintain good card advantage.

A good Caldari-only combo is Feed On The Weak / Faulty Implant Manager. I know a coupke of other good ones but they're more for soecialised deck archtypes (grinders etc)
There's also an old thread on here where everyone put forward their favourite combo's - you might et a few good ideas there. I've been trying to use the Sublet Station / Ginnugagap combo for income generation, there should be plenty of threads on here about it. It works better too if you have any spare Scordite.

Check out this deck of mine. I came second with it in the only tournie i ever played in, and only lost to the infamous "Turn 3 win Cormorant Rush" deck. It's basically a Caldari frigate-rush deck, and it doesnt have heaps of irreplaceable rares.

Let us know how u get on...

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/07 12:13 I have a have a fast caldary deck too that is pretty nice but also very vulnerable.
I also use their ability to draw cards but i try to get a solid income of 8 isk in the second turn.
How i do that:
I have 11 scouts in my deck (valetor, ibis, ....) and make use of the starchart, scorglite combo. To draw this combo i have black market. The remaining cards are cruiser like corecer, comoranth and so on.
To improove the speed of my deck i use the scouts with the Junkyard dock to hasten the assembly of my heavy ships.

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/08 07:01 i cant seem to find that thread you mentioned, can you give me its topic name? as for the feed on the week combo it sounds ok but i only have the one, ( same with sublet station). speaking of which, cant sublet station only be played in home regions? or doesmt that matter with ggap?

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/10 04:15 It doesn't matter with the Gap. Gap isn't playing the card, it is "putting the card into play." It is a minor but powerful distinction, important for many trigger events and restrictions. -Ryuteki, Owner of the Rules!

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/11 10:43 Here's the actual linky -
http://www.eve-ccg.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,35/func,view/id,6382/catid,14/
...the topic is called "Caldari ftg" or such

Just another minor point - Ryuteki is correct in pointing out the distinction between 'play' and 'put into play', but the Gap is unique in that the game text tells you to "PLACE" the location into the region (i.e. NOT play and NOT put into play) so any of the usual triggers and restrictions will be circumvented.

Sublet in the Gap will still cap your home region income to 5 isk, but you will be eligible for the Gap Sublet +5 isk.

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/11 23:55 so are you saying you can put multiple sublets into gap? even though your home region will be capped at 5 isk the gap's isk isnt capped?

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/12 09:23 Yeah, that's pretty much it. Typically, more than one Sublet in a (home) region would destroy them both, but you can have multiples in the Gap becuz
a) You're not putting the Sublets into play
b) the Gap text prevents any locations 'leaving' the region (i.e. being destroyed)

The obvious drawback to this Get Rich Quick scheme is that your opponent could take the Gap from you (and beat you over the head with it), so your money making machine is now their money making machine.

You should do a search on these boards to see more detailed discussions on the Gap / Sublet topic...

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/13 09:59 Precog Tower is very meta-dependant and not as versatile as Venal, i think... depends on whether your opponent has specific favourite cards that you want to nerf...

With Emperor's Decree, you effectively increase your chances of drawing locations, so you can reduce the actual number of locations in your deck. Try and get it down to about 12-14, and use the free space for some Starbase Struct's maybe (since they're bit light in this deck) or some heavy ships (destroyers, cruisers, battleships for your "killing blow"). Also, Emperor's Decree works great with Sansha's Scout Outpost, as it lets you circumvent the "return to hand" ability of Sansha's...

As for the ships, Kestrels are too good at defence to be overlooked.

Lastly, the Eve Gate region works great with tourist resort, since unless your opponent is going for an Eve Gate Win, they're never gonna want to go there.

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/13 11:17 thanks 4 the tips. i'll definately use the eve gate idea, and the locations for other ships sounds like good advice too. as for structures i would mainly want advanced shipyards but only have a few. any structure ideas?

Re:fast attack deck - 2008/08/13 13:46 Provided you have a tight ship-based defence and an income engine that isnt mainly Starbase Structures, then the Institute of Bureaucracy is a total headmelter for any opponent. It works well with Juggernaut Platforms too (if they're both playable by Caldari that is. Best to check). I like EMP Minefields too for good non-shield-based defence. ============================
