One program to rule them all... - 2008/06/17 13:17ChrisHerr wrote: Out of the available programs, which do you think is the best? [I haven't loaded any of them yet.]
Chris I feel this topic is better suited for a separate thread than a tournament thread. No offense, but this is the kind of question that tends to ignite long discussions...
My personal preferences: OCTGN 2 > OCTGN > ArcanistCCG > LackeyCCG.
Lackey doesn't support my keyboard layout which is one of the main reasons why I quickly dumped it. I also feel that it looks cramped and was cumbersome to get the game. I've never actually played with it so I can't speak about that.
Arcanist is very flexible and has a nicely clean interface. The reason why I'm not recommending it is simply because it has no concept of card owner and card controller and it's difficult to detect cheating (every player can manipulate every card and the only clue to it is a faint icon).
OCTGN is not without flaws either but I've found them the most manageable. For some mysterious reasons installing it can be difficult for some users. The user-interface is very non-standard but more manageable than Lackey. Installing the game is rather simple and the playfield is quite sophisticated.
OCTGN 2's only downside is that it's not finished yet... IMO it has the potential for becoming the ultimate CCG playing program.
