If a ship has multiple commands, can I activate more than one at the same time?

To activate a command you must turn the ship card so that the tab with the command faces up. Therefore you cannot have more than one active command unless both commands are on the same side of the card. For example, Tristan can only have one of its three commands active at the same time but Maller can have both of its commands active at the same time.
