After seeing the changes The Exiled is bringing to the game, many players have expressed concern that the rush tactic will no longer be viable, and that the race that most relies upon said tactic, the Minmatar, will be left largely toothless. As you can plainly see from the Angel Haunter, these fears are entirely unfounded.
Angel Haunter is one of a series of new destroyers, and is arguably the most visceral in its dealings with enemy ships. Like most of the cards in this series, its long assembly is offset by its special hastening effect, making the ship more fearsome the more an opponent relies upon frigates. Combined with its low cost, this makes the Haunter frighteningly easy to field.
The ability to take control of an opponent’s ships is a blunt instrument, effectively smashing any delicate ship-based strategy to pieces, and since the Haunter has the ability to prevent its chosen target from escaping combat, just the threat of its use is often enough to keep larger enemy ships hiding inside their starbase.
