These past two weekends have seen three EVE North American Qualifiers. Nearly three dozen players gathered at local shops in Montreal, Woodbridge and Green Bay to play EVE and compete for a spot in the $10,000 Championship at Gen Con Indianapolis.
The Exiled will introduce a number of new abilities and commands to Second Genesis, and we’d like to spend the next few weeks detailing these new mechanics, and their effects on gameplay. Today’s teaser reveals both Sentry and Exile, two passive abilities that will radically change the way you play in the outer regions.
The Exiled will introduce four new factions to Second Genesis, each paired with one of the four existing races. While players of the online game may already be familiar with EVE’s pirates, we would like to use this week’s Exiled Update to acquaint you with the corsairs of the outer regions, and the role each organization will play in ESG.
We are very pleased to announce the scheduling of two
volunteer-run European Opens. The first is being held at the Role Play Convention in Muenster, Germany
during the weekend of April 21-22. More information about the event, including
times and prizes, can be found here.
The second Open will be held at Game '07
in Manchester, England on June 23. Further details can be found on the event calendar.
The time has come to start revealing information about the first expansion for Second Genesis, known as Yarr! up to this point. The sets official title is The Exiled, and as previously stated, it is made up of cards from four of the pirate factions of the EVE universe. As indicated by the title, this set also places a heavy emphasis on the oft-neglected outer regions. With 160 cards in The Exiled, it provides a myriad of new ways to manipulate, control and exploit the galaxy while you work to topple your opponents.
The next three Qualifiers have been scheduled and posted on the event calendar. This leaves us with only four more to schedule, so if you think your local shop or club would make a suitable location, please email the details to AgentZero at

With major conventions coming up in both North America and Europe, the CCG team is pleased to announce that we have developed a proprietary tournament management program, and that it is ready for use by the players and volunteer organizers. Dubbed The Holder, after the permanently networked Amarrian pictured on Network Access, this program will allow event organizers to easily organize and run Second Genesis tournaments. And once a tournament is finished, the organizer can export the data and send it in to be processed and posted in the upcoming player database. This program is a major step towards a constantly updated database of player involvement and rankings, and we hope you will join us in utilizing it to create such a play environment. The Holder is available for download on the Agent Resources page.
After a day of recovery, I (AgentZero) have a report from Second Genesis first ever Qualifier event. Held at Valhallas Gate in Columbia, Missouri, the first Qualifier went very well. There is a lot of interest in EVE in the area, and the number of players is continuing to grow.
In order to serve the community better, we have set up a small survey over at QuestionPro. If you can spare two minutes (literally, we timed it), please check it out and let us know about your Second Genesis experience. The more we know about how and where you’re playing the game, the more we can do to meet your expectations.
With the next convention season right around the corner, we have been preparing several new support items for both demonstrations and events. The first of these is a fully-animated Flash demonstration, narrated by EVE’s very own Aura. Those of you unfamiliar with the soothing voice of the ship’s computer should definitely give it a listen! This tutorial is a powerful teaching tool, demonstrating all the basics of gameplay in a few short lessons.
After a long process of trial and error, the official tournament rules have been updated and posted to the website. Many of the changes made to the rules are based on input from the players, and the developers would like to recognize the work you have done. Your feedback and suggestions are what make Second Genesis great, and set it apart as a truly community-driven game. Thank you for your participation, now get out there and put these new rules to use!
White Wolf Announces Locations of First Three EVE: The Second Genesis Qualifiers
Atlanta, GA – February 12, 2007 – The Championship at last year’s Gen Con Indianapolis was a huge success, and in the months leading up to this year’s Gen Con, CCP is preparing to top the numbers and excitement of the release event.
Given that Second Genesis was spawned by an online game, it was inevitable that it would eventually return to the electronic medium. The fact that the playerbase is spread across so much of the globe just hastened the process.
A card game lives and dies by its events, and events are only as good as the volunteers who run them. Fortunately, Second Genesis has some of the best volunteers out there, and wed like to thank them by unveiling the Agent Reward Program.
EVE: The Second Genesis, has received a glowing review from RPG.net, with a score of five stars for Style and four for Substance.
"...if gamers give EVE: The Second Genesis a chance and are willing to look past Magic: The Gathering and World of Warcraft," the article states, "they are sure to discover an excellent card game. We are going to play this CCG a lot in the future, and we hope many will follow our example."
