North American Qualifier Update

These past two weekends have seen three EVE North American Qualifiers. Nearly three dozen players gathered at local shops in Montreal, Woodbridge and Green Bay to play EVE and compete for a spot in the $10,000 Championship at Gen Con Indianapolis.

Montreal, Quebec played host to the first of the events on April 8, and from the report, the folks at Carta Magica ran a great tournament. Despite a low turnout, the competition was fierce, and a number of play styles were employed. Alexandre Lefebvre came in first his Gallente deck, beating out Guillaume Robichaud.

The Qualifier in Woodbridge, Virginia saw a greater number of players, but a much more decisive win. James Stewart (our own RedX on the forums) rode his lucky chair to the top of a ten-player heap, claiming another victory for the Amarrian Empire. Though all the competitors made an impressive showing, James’ ruthless domination of the board securely locked the win.

The Gnome Games regulars were put to the test by some visitors from over Chicago way. Of the fourteen players in attendance, the big prizes being given out in Green Bay, Wisconsin were awarded to the Chicagoans Noel Meyer and her lovely husband, Richard Riley (the ever-verbose Ryuteki). Richard’s Gallente deck was tough, but it couldn’t stand up to the unstoppable force of Noel’s Minmatar horde.
