Many of you have noticed the Glicko scores under your profiles by now, but amidst the hustle and bustle of preparing The Exiled, we have yet to address what they mean. The time has come to remedy that.
The player database has finally been implemented on the website, and it is fully integrated with your forum login. If you are registered for the forums, you’re in the database; however, we would like to ask you to provide us with some more information. In order for the database to be used as a means of accurately tracking each player’s involvement in demonstrations and tournaments, we need to have up to date contact information so that we can email and potentially ship items to you. If you haven’t already, please take a moment now to update the information in your profile.
In addition to helping organizers keep track of and in communication with players, the database also allows the community as a whole to view the results of every sanctioned tournament, from an eight-person event at a game store to the 150+ player Gen Con Championship. This is accomplished with the help of the official tournament software, the Holder. Named for the Amarrian hackers hard-wired into the galactic network, the Holder allows Agents to easily keep track of tournaments as they unfold, and then export the information to send back to the database. The software is available for download in the Agent Resources section of the site, and a tutorial is posted in the forums here.
These two resources are important to sustaining Second Genesis in general, but they are particularly useful now that The Exiled is releasing soon. For more information on how to put these tools to use, see this forum post.
