So I (AgentZero) spent all of last week at the Gamma Trade Show in Las Vegas, leaving a number of tasks unfinished here in Atlanta. Unfortunately, the weekly Exiled update was one of these tasks. I apologize for the delay, but I return from Sin City bearing a gift: a new card from the upcoming set. Behold!
While the primary bonus granted by The Speaker of Truths is very versatile, it is the secondary bonus that sets this card apart from the Core Set. The bonus granted to shields is marked with an Amarr symbol like this because it is a racial affinity, an ability only usable by a specific race. While any deck may make use of the venerable Speaker’s ability to rally their defenders’ strength, only an Amarr player may benefit from the card’s bonus to shield value.
A number of cards in Exiled make use of racial affinities (including the CONCORD ships being given out at Qualifiers). This results in many Exiled cards with few or no racial restrictions, making a greater range of cards and abilities available to all decks; however, these cards still preserve the themes of each race by protecting race-specific abilities with racial affinities. As with The Speaker of Truths, any deck may benefit from such cards’ basic abilities, but only certain races may utilize them to their full degree.
