After a day of recovery, I (AgentZero) have a report from Second Genesis first ever Qualifier event. Held at Valhallas Gate in Columbia, Missouri, the first Qualifier went very well. There is a lot of interest in EVE in the area, and the number of players is continuing to grow.
After a late start (we were waiting for some players from the next town over to drive in) the tournament went off without a hitch. The local metagame, with its larger, slower decks, dominated the day, and the win went to an Amarr region-control deck with a very meaty mid-game. Morlocke, the decks owner, has already posted it here, along with a great explanation of how it operates.
I handed out some great prizes throughout the day, including metal ISK tokens, laser-etched race markers and even two new ship cards that have never been seen before: the CONCORD Customs Official and the CONCORD SWAT Officer. In the end, though, it wasnt about the prizes, or even the competition; everyone that showed up had a great time talking about and playing the game with a wonderful group of people.
